Time to get funky & happy with a new challenge!

Hi Funky Hand Fans!

Jenny here and I have a 'Get Funky' challenge for you!  Every month on the 'funky fifteenth' we set you all a brand new challenge for the month and this time it is...

Birthday Fun!!!

With the launch of the brand new Funky Hand Papercraft Factory CD 'Happy Happy Birthday' just a few days ago we couldn't really go for anything else but birthdays this month! ;)



So that's absolutely ANYTHING birthday related and you MUST use at least ONE Funky Hand element to be entered for the prize.  Don't have anything Funky Hand?  Well there's no excuse as you can head straight over here and get your mitts on this month's incredibly fun & funky freebie!!!

To launch the challenge I've made a wordbook...

I've used the Pressie Time collection on Happy Happy Birthday.  Now, I have to make a big admission...this was my first ever wordbook!!!  And I have to say I'm now hooked!  These are so much fun & a dream to make.  So much easier than they look - and yet so very, very much admired & effective.  I've printed on both sides of my pages - just printed out the front of the wordbook then the chosen coordinating paper from the same collection on the reverse side.  I've attached my pages with a piece of twine & I cut out lots of stars from one sheet of printed paper to decorate all of the pages - and it wouldn't have been complete without a good old amount of glitter on these stars!!!

Beach Bikini!

Good morning! It's my turn (Ruth) to show you my samples for the wonderful Beach theme set by Paula. The weather has certainly taken a turn for the worst but hopefully what I'm about to show you will transport you back to sunnier days!


I've googled 'bikini template' to find the right shape and I've used papers from Dreams Come True - printed at A5 size for a smaller pattern. The reverse of the card is the bottoms but you'll have to pop over to my blog to see those!

The frills have been made using a heart punch - the pointy bit is hidden with just the scallops showing. All the beads, ribbon and bits of bling are from my stash. And I've dotted either stickles or liquid pears around the edges of the bikini for a bit more sparkle!

At the seaside

First I would like to thank all the lovely people who have joined in with our challenge. Unfortunately there are still some who aren't reading our rules, just using the monthly theme and not using any Funky Hand products. We don't have many rules but that is the big one. Anice goes to great lengths every month to add a Funky freebie paper to the web site to use for the challenge so please use it if you don't have any other FH products otherwise your entry will not be counted.

Right onto my card. It was Paula's turn to set the challenge for this month and she chose At The Seaside as her theme. We have always had a rule in our house, since the kids were little, that the first person to see the sea buys the ice creams :) so this sort of influenced my card a bit!

I chose to make a card with matching gift tag using paper and image from the Craft The Year Away CD.

There are still a couple of days for you to join in with our challenge so we would love to see what you come up with.

Hello Funky Hand Fans!  Jenny here & I'm just 'popping in' to share a little seaside make with you!

As you know, Paula has set the challenge this month as...

'At The Seaside'

Once again, you have outdone yourselves with some awesome entries this month & if you haven't had a chance to play along yet don't worry there's still time - entry closes on 14th Sept.  See the post here for all the details!   Don't forget to use at least one Funky Hand product... & make sure you get your hands on the freebie paper too!  I've used it to make the starfish on my card!  The little buckets and spades are from the Craft The Year Away CD and I've used my favourite Alphabits from the Tea's Up! Download.

Amanda and Our Betty At the Seaside!

Morning all and welcome to the last week of this month's At The Seaside theme set by the lovely Paula. When I think of the Seaside I always remember going with my grandparents and my brother to the beach and trying to be the first to shout "first to see the sea" at the top of the hill!! My gran had an old fashioned stripy deckchair so I thought I'd have a wee go at making one! Once I made it I thought Our Betty wouldn't mind a wee relax on it lol. The stripy paper is from the Rainbow Stripey Stripes download . Our Betty is from the Your Special Day clear stamp set.


I also made this card because we all love to see the sun At the Seaside too. I made the card with the Craft The Year Away cd and the ribbon and sunglasses charm are from my stash.

Getting Funky At The Seaside

JULES IS AT THE SEASIDE

Hi Everyone

It is my turn, Jules, to share with you my creation for the lovely Paula's challenge where she wants us to create a project on the theme of

AT THE SEASIDE

For me the seaside means the beach .. .. ... the beach makes me think of sand .. .. .. the sand makes me think of sandcastles and that in turn means windmills!!

So here are my windmills .. . . ..

These windmills are just so easy to make and I thought you might like a quick tutorial on how I made them .. .. then you can have a play too.

To begin with you start off with a square of paper.  The larger ones here were made with a 6" square of paper which has been been printed on both sides with gorgeous patterns from the Colour Me Happy CD.

So you can see my markings I have just used plain paper here:

1.   Take your 6 x 6" square and mark the centre by placing your ruler diagonally across the square and marking at 4.25 inches.

2.  Then from the left hand edge draw a line from the corner to 3.5 inches

3.  Then draw a second line from the 5 inch mark to the right hand edge.

4.  Turn your paper round and do the same along the other diagonal line.

Without the ruler blocking your view your square will now look like this

5.  Next cut along the four lines you have drawn

6.  Then make a holes in four corners as shown and one in the centre.  I used my little tool for cutting eyelet holes but you can just as easily use your pokey tool or a hole punch.

7.  Fold one of your corners into the centre lining up the holes. 

8.  Work your way around the square in an anti-clockwise direction until all of the holes are lined up on top of each other.  Then thread a brad through all the holes and layers and open up the legs of the brad on the back to secure them.

9.  To finish off I simply glued my windmill to a kebab stick but you can use a stronger wooden stick and secure it with a map pin .. .. .. then yours will turn round .. .. unlike mine that just sit and look pretty in a vase LOL!!!  They will last longer than flowers!!

Once you have made one that will be it .. .. the little tiny one was made using a 2 inch square of paper.
