Funky Fun

Good morning all, I hope you haven't been too confused by the clocks going back.....I forgot to set my watch so I was out of bed at 8.30, which doesn't sound too bad but it was actually 7.30! On a Sunday morning! The only time I'm up at that time on a Sunday is when I do a wedding fayre lol

So, enough about me and onto the challenge for this month as chosen by Amanda

Christmas is all about the kids

so thats what I am setting for this month's theme.

Anything Christmassy for a child.  It can be anything you want........a card, a gift, a layout, a decoration ~ whatever your imagination can come up with.

I made a gift bag from a brown envelope and card. I will be adding a tutorial to my blog for the gift bag so please check it out Scruff's Corner

The paper used is the Freebie from Anice which is available to download from the Funky Hand web site. Please don't just take the paper and run, we would love to see you join in with our challenge and show us what you make. The rules for the challenge are.......you must use a Funky Hand product and that's it!

While you're on the Funky Hand web site for the freebie paper, please take an extra 10 minutes or so and have a look around. There are lots of new Christmas downloads at fabulous prices and each download has it's own gallery to (hopefully) give you a bit of inspiration.

I'll leave you to get on with your tour of the web site and look forward to seeing what you come up with for our challenge. Please don't forget to add your name to the link below

Kids Christmas - Ni Style!

Afternoon bloggers, sorry I am late sharing my post with you today, I have just had a week off work and completely lost track of the date..... I don't know where the days have gone!

Anyway, the challenge here at Get Funky! this month (set by Amanda) is for kids Christmas and so I immediately wanted to use the cute Santa image from the new Oh Come All Ye Crafters Digital Stamp download, I have also used a green paper from the Make A List download and the funky freebie for this month which has a jazzy star pattern on it, fab!

The Santa image was coloured in using promarkers, the present is an old Quickutz die and the ribbon and sentiment are from my HUGE Xmas craft stash!
I have not added any extra embellishments to the card yet as I thought with so many patterns and layers on there already it could become a bit cluttered. I might walk away and leave it for a few days then come back to it and see what I think, sometimes it is just best not to over think it and know when to walk away! ;)

I look forward to seeing your kids card entries, just don't forget......

Thanks for stopping by today, Ni. :)

Santa's Coming

Morning everyone and welcome to Get Funky. The lovely Amanda has set the challenge for this month and it is Christmas for the Kids.
So what does every kid big and small want? Why it's Santa to stop at their house isn't it!
So I made a door hanger instructing Santa to do just that
I used the Papercraft Factory CD's for this by selecting my paper from the Twelve Crafters Crafting CD and moving it to the workspace then I changed to the Craft The Year  Away CD and brought the door hanger template onto the workspace on top of my chosen paper- printed this and cut it out.
Used this cute Santa digi from the new download Oh Come All Ye Crafters Digital Stamps, coloured him and printed off the words STOP SANTA

Remember to join in you must use a Funky Hand product and Anice has been kind enough to give you a Funky Freebie to help you join in.
Hope you can join us this month

Ruth's Kids Christmas

Do you realise that it is less than 70 day to Christmas?!  Where did the year go?!  I'm actually quite organised this year in making my special family Christmas cards and here is one that fits Amanda's challenge this month which is:

Kids Christmas Cards

I've made a wordbook for both boys - this one is for Samuel (obviously!) and I've used the not yet released Winter Wonderland Wordbook download so you get a sneak peak of this collection which is perfect for those pesky males!

This was really easy to make - I printed off the letters I required (printed one of the plain papers on the reverse of each sheet) and then layered them up!  I've added glitter glue around the edges of each letter plus three Marianne Creatable snowflake dies plus a little ribbon over the 'book' end.

Perfect for when you just don't want to colour an image and then try and find papers to match.  And there is no fiddly cutting out either!

The rules for our challenge are really easy and you need to make sure you've used a Funky Hand product in your creation.  There is always a Funky freebie download available on the Funky Hand website www.funkyhand.com that fits in with the monthly challenge!  Good luck!

Christmas is all about the kids......

Hello!  It's Amanda here and welcome to my Funky Fifteenth Challenge!!

I know we all dread the C word coming up when it comes to crafting, some love it and make cards happily all year, some hate it and are last minute crafters.  I love Christmas and I actually enjoy making cards and gifts for friends and family but I just can't seem to get motivated to start early enough and always end up rushing at the end!  The first cards I always make though are for my kids, at least that way if I don't make any more cards at least my babies have their cards, and as we all know

Christmas is all about the kids

so thats what I am setting for this month's theme.

Anything Christmassy for a child.  It can be anything you want........a card, a gift, a layout, a decoration ~ whatever your imagination can come up with.

You can enter as many times as you like and can combine with as many challenges as you like.  AND you get the chance to win the Funky Hand download of you choice.  Simples as the wee meerkat says :)

As always our one and only rule here at Get Funky is that you need to use at least item from Funky Hand on your creation.  There are loads of scrummy craft cds and downloads available on the Funky Hand website.  Especially the new O Come All Ye Crafters downloads.

For those who are new to Funky Hand and don't have any Funky Hand stash there is a Funky Freebie backing paper available on the website www.funkyhand.com.  :)
My card for this month was made using the  Santa Baby download.  The image is from the 12 Crafters Crafting cd.  The topper of the card detaches to become a Christmas Tree decoration.

I do hope you will come and join in with the Get Funky fun this month.  Please click on the blue frog to enter.

Baby's 1st Christmas Wordbook

It's my turn ((Debbie) to show you my offering for Lou's challenge.
This months the Get Funky Challenge is.....

WORDBOOKS
So it can be any word, any theme as long as it is a wordbook!! and..
As always you must use at least one Funky Hand product on your wordbook..:)
Anice has provided a great Funky freebie to help you create a wordbook and it'll count as at least one funky hand product if you don't have any cd's etc. at home.

I've just become an Auntie again to a beautiful baby girl so decided to make a wordbook for her Mum and Dad as a keepsake.

I've used one of the new wordbook downloads Santa baby.
and embellished it with some gems, snowflake punch and cut out some holly from one of the papers from the Santa baby papers download.

There's still a couple of days to join in as the challenge doesn't close until Sunday 14th October and they are incredibly simple to cut out. So why not devote a little bit of time to capture someones's memories, they are such well received gifts too.

When is a Wordbook Not a Wordbook?

When it's a number card lol!!!
Hi Debs here with another idea to share with you for this month's

WORDBOOK CHALLENGE

as hosted by the lovely Lou.

So I decided to make an A6 size card using the numbers from the wordbook section of
'Happy Happy Birthday Papercraft CD-Rom and the 'Birthday Girl' collection.

I blinged up the numbers using lashings of Stickles

Scrummy cake image - Digital Stamp from Craft the Year Away Papercraft Factory CD-Rom

Don't forget to use at least 1 Funky Hand product to be in with a chance to win the fab prize on offer.
And to help you Anice has designed another fabulous Funky Freebie - available here

Before I go I would like to take the opportunity to thank Anice for giving me the opportunity to work with such wonderful papers and designs for the past few years as this will be my final project for Get Funky and Funky Hand.
It's been a blast and I wish Anice and the fabulous Funkettes all the best for the future.

Please add your entry with Mr Linky by Sunday 14 October.

Have a wonderful day.

Wordbooks - Anything Goes!

Hello :) I'm back for my second blog as a Funkette and yes, I know it's only the beginning of October but I'm trying to think about Christmas and be as organised as possible this year. So, with that in mind, I knew as soon as the challenge for this month was announced, I would do something Christmas themed and of course Funkyhand were able to provide me with the perfect papers for my make.

For those of you who don't know me, I come from a large family (I am one of 8 children) and between us, there are currently 26 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. And although we don't tend to buy for the older children, I do always try and make the little ones something. And here's a little taster of what I've made:

Using the wordbooks and papers from the Santa Baby and Christmas Tree ranges, I have started to make mini wordbooks and covered decorations (the ones shown are for two of the great-grandchildren, Ruby and Rhys). All I needed to add was a little baker's twine - it couldn't be easier. I am also making co-ordinating cards, so keep your eyes on my blog because they'll be coming up soon.

The papers are fantastic whatever the age range or gender and there's plenty of variety so even with a large family like mine, no two cards or wordbooks need be the same! So, all that's left is for me to hand over to you guys now and I can't wait to see what you come up with :) All we ask is that you use a Funkyhand product in your make, and don't worry if you don't own any Funkyhand products , Anice has created a fabulous freebie to help you out.

Click on the Add Link button to be entered. If you haven't got a blog then you can enter via the facebook page instead. This challenge closes on Sunday 14th October so there's still a week to get your entries in. See you soon, love Sammylou xxx

A Useful Christmas Wordbook!

Hi, Kathy here this time with another wordbook idea for you;
Lou set this month's challenge and said:
This months Get Funky Challenge is.....
WORDBOOKS

So it can be any word, any theme as long as it is a wordbook!! and..
As always you must use at least one Funky Hand product on your wordbook..:)
(its an easy rule and not much of an ask.)
Well yes, I know it's a scary thought, but now that October already the Cword time of the year is starting to loom large on the horizon.  So I've used WB pages and papers from the
to make a little present-buying organizer.  Whether it'll actually help get me organized is another thing entirely!

Anyway, I've adapted the WB pages to make a different shaped wordbook which is about 12cm square - big enough to hold lots of info but small enough to carry around in my bag.
One of the wonderful thing about Funky Hand's downloads is that once they are on your computer you can easily resize the pages, or even crop them down and print just the bits you need.  This is how I made the tabs with 2012 on for the pages in this book.
I printed my choice of the papers on both sides of regular thin card, then glued a number tab to each, taking care to position them so that they would show properly once the book was assembled,
Next I cut off the surplus card from each page so that the tabs were sticking out, trimmed all the pages to the right size, punched holes for the ribbon ties and the book was ready to decorate.
On the cover I've used the  from the
the "gifts" border design is from the CD - to make it I simply popped 3 identical images close together onto the workspace, added the fab fat Father Christmas image to the workspace too and printed it all out.  I trimmed the border design to the size and shape I wanted and used a circle punch to cut out Father Chrismtas.
The book title is pc generated.
I used ribbon to tie the pages together so that I can add extra pages if I need to.
Finally I use Word to make the "Ideas" and "Gifts Bought" pages and glued them on to the Wordbook pages.

Anice's fab Funky Freebie download  can be found on the web site. and it will help you make your own wordbook - so that even if you don't already have any of the Funky Hand CDs or Wordbook downloads to use you'll still be able to have a go and share your creations with us.
Just remember that you absolutely MUST use a Funky Hand product on your wordbook.
If you don't have a blog then please don't worry, you can enter through our Facebook page.
You have till the 14th October to add your link - we're hoping that you're all busy making and putting the finishing touches to yours ready to post your link so we can see what you've made.
Thanks for visiting us today - please come back soon for more Wordbook Inspiration!
