Flying High

Good morning all, it's Jackie here again. I'm sure it's only a couple of days since I was here with last month's challenge, I must be very old now because my weeks are flying by (no pun intended :))

So onto my card

If you follow my blog you will see a run of these step cards, I just love them and I think they look very 'special' when made up.

I really love this spotty paper, it can be found on the Rainbow Polka Dots download

The freebie for this month can be found on the download section of the Funky Hand web site. Please take it and make something to show us then pop back to let us know what you've made so we can come and take a look. The only rule we have is that you must use a Funky Hand  product, if you haven't got anything then please use the freebie. Don't forget to add your creation to Mr Linky, below.

Fairy Wings

Morning all and welcome to another day in Allison's Flying High challenge!! Haven't the other girl's cards been fabulous? Amanda here with my take on Flying High.......when I think of wings I always think of fairies.......I'm just that kinda girl lol

My card is using the wee fairy and paper from Happy Happy Birthday Although the sidestepper card looks complicated I've kept it pretty simple, the number 1 was drawn freehand, the letters were cut using my cuttlebug and the message is on the wee tag on the back step. A bit of glitter on her crown, a couple of flowers and a few pearls all from my stash and that as they say is that.

Here at the Get Funky Challenge we only have 1 rule ~ you must use at least 1 Funky Hand item on your creation. As always Anice has made you all a gorgeous Funky Freebie so even if you are new to Funky Hand you can still enter.

You can make what you like and enter any challenge you like but if there isn't a Funky Hand image or paper on your entry then you won't be entered into the prize draw. The prize is the download of your choice, don't know how you will choose though there are so many fabulous collections to choose from!

Click on the wee blue froggy thingy to enter and good luck!

Flying by!

Hello!  Jenny here, and I'm just flying in to share my 'Flying High' project with you!

I've used some lovely heart paper from the newest Funky Hand download, I Heart You. I've combined this with a butterfly digi image from the Flutterby Flowers download, printed on to some green paper. I've embellished with some gorgeous lace ribbon, some heart stickers and some tiny brads. I've only added glue to the centre spine of the butterfly so that the wings pop up...

I do hope you've been enjoying this month's challenge so far. If you're yet to play along please remember our one and only rule - use at least one Funky Hand product in your creation - and remember you can get your hands on the fantastic Funky Freebie here! You can find all the other details on how to enter in the challenge launch post, written by Allison, here!

Amanda will be up next with some more 'Flying High' inspiration for you so please pop back here on 26th February!

Stay Funky!

Ruth - Two Hoots

It's time for my take on Allison's fab theme for Get Funky for the month! The theme is

Flying High

So anything that flies can be entered - but you MUST make sure you've used at least one Funky Hand product. And Anice always offers a freebie which fits the monthly challenge - you can download the cloud paper that I've used by clicking here.

I've used a mixture of papers for my card - the funky freebie for the month plus Funky Kraft Stash - layered behind the clouds and also for the owls bodies and I Heart You for the stripy wings and also the tiny beaks!

I printed the funky freebie at A5 sized for a smaller pattern and the I Heart You download has been printed 9 to a page for an even smaller pattern!

For more details on my card, pop over to my blog!

I hope that's given you more inspiration for this months theme - you have until 14 March to enter and don't forget you MUST use a Funky Hand product in your creation. Good luck!

January Blues in February

Good morning. Today it's my (Deb's) turn to share my project for
this month's
January Blues Challenge

I thought I would have a go at a twisted easel card this time - the key thing to remember with this style is to score the correct diagonal on the base card :o)

I started with a 6"x6" square card and to get the 'twist'  you score from the top right corner to the bottom left corner of the front of the base card, then fold to form the easel on which to adhere another 6"x6" square - this is the one that you decorate with papers, image and embellishments of your choice - and it should be decorated before you adhere to the base card.

Here's what I used to decorate my card:
Blue Magic Collection - Paper 1 & Paper 5
using a digi image from this CD and the writer function

Don't forget that if you want to be in with a chance to win some fab Funky Hand goodies - you must use at least 1 Funky Hand product and to make it easy for you Anice has made another fab Get Funky Freebie available here

Free craft backing papers to download for card making and scrapbooking

There's still a couple of days to get your entry added to Mr Linky below.

Allison will be back on Wednesday with another fab and funky new challenge.

Thanks.
Debs xx

Kathy's Blue Gift Card Wallet

Please remember: You MUST use at least ONE Funky Hand Product to join in with our challenges!

Hi there,
Kathy here today with my  project for Lou's January Blues challenge here on Get Funky!
This month I've made a little Gift Card holder - these are simple to make and a more personal way to present those credit card style gift tokens that many places use these days.  It's also easy to adapt to use for other sizes of token and vouchers once you know the basic method.

To make my wallet I've used this month's Fabulous Funky Freebie Paper.
Other Funky Hand products used:
Blue Magic papers from CD Dreams Come True
Gift image from CD Happy Happy Birthday
"Gift" sentiment is created in the Papercraft Factory's "writer" facility

Materials:
1 sheet of 12x12" Bazzill type card
Funky Hand papers
Ribbon or cord for closing
Glue or double sided tape

1. Cut a 10cm (4") strip from a plain coloured piece of 12x12 scrapbook card such as Bazzill
2. Fold in half as shown
3. Using the Gift Card as a guide, cut a slit in the fold line as shown by the orange Xs in the diagram to make a slot long enough for your gift card to fit through
4. Now make the Valley Folds at 10cms (4ins) from each end
You should now have something that looks like this:
5. Add a narrow line of glue (or double sided tape) to seal each end of the middle section - just a 1cm wide strip   is enough. Press the inside section together to form something like this:
6. Now it's time to decorate, but make sure that your first task is to cut a strip of Funky Hand paper to fit right around the wallet, this will seal the folded end of the wallet so that the gift card won't just go straight through!  Once that's done you can cover the inside too and add whatever closure or decorative elements you want.

I hope you like this project and will have a go at making one of these yourself.

There are still a couple of days left to join in with the January Blues challenge but don't forget, your project will only count if you use at least one Funky Hand product to make it - you'll have no chance of winning our monthly prize if you don't take notice of that one simple rule ;).
Even if you don't have any Funky Hand stash (yet) you can still join in by using the Funky Freebie

Happy Crafting

January Blues with a wobble!

Hi everyone, it's Anice here today I am your 'blog post' host for this months Get Funky Challenge

January Blues

There is only one rule when joining in with the Get Funky Challenge each month and that is to use at least ONE Funky Hand product on your entry. If you don't have any Funky Hand stash yet then worry not as I have put a Funky Freebie on my website www.funkyhand.com to help you.  It changes each month so don't miss it!

Right, here's my card for this months challenge..

I thought I would really mix up different Funky Hand items from different Funky Hand CDs for this card. Just to show you how you can work lots of papers, digital stamps and templates from the different Papercraft Factory CDs together.

  • This is a scalloped wobble card as you can see and the polka dot paper is from the Colour Me Happy CD ROM,  the Jovial Man collection.  I moved that paper to the Happy Happy Birthday CD workspace and used the scalloped template over it from that CD and printed it out.
  • I then used my trusty dried up black ink pad and inked around the edges of the card and set it a side.
  • The Love in a heart is a digital stamp from the Craft The Year Away CD.  I printed it off on white card and then using Letraset Aquamarkers I coloured in the digital stamp.  I love using Aquamarkers they give a really great water colour effect.  I feel like I've really painted the image even though it's been made easy by the markers!!  Once the colouring was dry I cut out the digital stamp leaving a bit of white card around it.
  • I then mounted the digital stamp in the centre of the card using foam pads.
  • Then I started adding my long forgotten Prima flowers around the sides.  I have literally boxes of Prima flowers which I haven't touched for ages. I found them in my craft box and decided they would be perfect for this card.  I stuck them down using wet glue rather than attaching them with brads and then added buttons and sticky backed gems to their centres.
Well, I hope you are enjoying seeing all the wonderful cards that the Funky Hand Design Team have been showing to you this month.  This challenge doesn't end until the 14th January so you still have plenty of time to join in with us and have a chance to win a Funky Hand download collection of your choice.  Just remember to include a Funky Hand product on your challenge entry to be able to have a chance of winning the prize.  Remember you can grab the Funky Freebie to help you.

Enjoy your crafting, and leave a comment so we know you have dropped by.  We love hearing from you.
Anice xx

January blues

Hello again, it's my (Jackie's) turn to show you my project for Lou's fabulous challenge for January.

January Blues.
so in more detail..
Its an anything goes month but you must use BLUE!!
Don't worry if you have nothing blue and funky because our super boss lady has made a wonderful FREEBIE for you all to grab to join in.

I made a card using papers that I chose beforehand which were from  I had already chosen my papers for the card as they were in my Funky Hand scraps folder, and I had a desperate request to make a last minute for a 21 st card for a boy.
Papers used are as follows
Star paper - from the Xmas Presents on the Twelve Crafters Crafting cd
backing paper, Happy birthday paper and the party hat paper are all taken from the Birthday Boy section of the Happy Happy Birthday cd
The large numbers are used from the birthday Boy section too and the ribbon and buttons were from my stash.

Take care to read our very few but important rules before the next section of the challenge whereby you submit your card to us. We are having to disqualify quite a few people who obviously just seen the challenge remit and thought they would enter without using anything from Funky Hand! You need to use something from Funky Hand please otherwise you will not be entered into the challenge. Don't forget to add your project to Mr Linky.

Thanks for looking, back soon.

Amanda's January Blues

Hello from a very chilly Scotland......my January blues could be my hands these last few days, it's been bitterly cold here!

Can you believe its Febrary now? Don't know about you but I have no idea where January has gone, not that I mind it being a bit closer to Spring :o)
As you probably know the fabulous Lou has set this months challenge of "January Blues" (check here for the original post and more details) The freebie for this month is available here and it is another lovely paper from Anice, perfect for any occassion.

For my card I had a bit of a play around with the Papercraft Factory cds. Part of what I love about the Funky Hand cds that are Papercraft Factory is the ability to mix and match between them. For my easel cards I used the paper, writer and image from the Birthday Boy collection on Happy Happy Birthday and the template from the 12 Crafters Crafting cd. I printed the paper out as a full page on one side then the template on the other side, this way when you fold over the easel part the paper is double sided and as you can see from my picture the stripes match up!

So please come and join in the Get funky fun and show us your January Blues. Please do remember our only rule here at Get Funky is that you must use at least one Funky Hand item on your creation. Feel free to make what you like and combine it with any other challenge you want, but please use a Funky Hand item to be entered into the prize draw for a free download of your choice.
