Simply Sentimental

Hello and welcome to my (Amanda) turn to show my Funky 15th make for Debs' fantastic "Get Sentimental" theme this month.  Debs wants the sentiment to take centre stage on your creation so Anice has made a great freebie for you all, with a few different sentiments, perfect for all occassions.

I have to admit this was in fact a challenge for me!  I am so used to having my image and papers all picked out before I start my card.  So I decided to keep it simple and I used the funky freebie (available here).  Both the sentiment and the stripy paper are on the freebie.

To be in with the chance of winning the download of your choice simply enter your creation using the blue froggy below.  We don't mind what you make or how many challenges you enter, so long as there is a Funky Hand product on it you're in with a chance!  Please note though that we do check each entry and any that don't have a Funky Hand paper, sentiment or image on don't get entered into the prize draw.

If you have come to the Challenge Blog via facebook then please feel free to enter your creation via the facebook page, especially handy for those of you not addicted to blogging like us DT girls.

Hope to see your "get sentimental" creations :o)

I'm Sentimental Two!

Yes, you did read my title correctly and I can spell ;) As you probably guessed, I've made two cards for the latest Get Funky! challenge one using the Funky Freebie free download (which can be downloaded from here) and one using 'snippets' of papers left over from other projects. The freebie this month even contains large sentiments so Anice has done most of the work for you :)

It's Debs turn to host this month's challenge and a good one it is too and here is her remit

Hello! Debs here with news of this month's
Funky 15th Challenge
I have chosen a nice and simple challenge

LET'S GET SENTIMENTAL

and would like to see your projects using at least 1 Funky Hand product
where the focus is on the sentiment - simples!!!

So here are my cards, the first using the freebie with flowers made from paper scraps!
And the second card is made using the 'Workspace' section of the Happy Happy Birthday cd, part of the Papercraft Factory range which is available from the Funky Hand web site. www.funkyhand.com
I added my birthday verse before I printed the image from the cd, coloured the flowers with Promarkers and added gems to some of them.

Please note. If you don't use any Funky Hand elements on your card then you WON'T be entered into the draw for the monthly download. the challenge is open until 14th May.

Good luck and happy crafting!

Jackie x

I'm sentimental about cake!

Hi everyone, it's Anice here with my card to hopefully inspire you to join in with our crafty challenge this month on Get Funky.  The challenge has been set by Debs and it's all about using a sentiment as a focal point of your creation. So lets see what I made for the 'Make It Sentimental' challenge

My card is made using papers, digital stamps and a sentiment from the Happy Happy Birthday CD ROM.

For the basic background backing paper I used the polka dot paper from the Birthday Girl collection then before I printed it, using the workspace on the CD I over layed the coloured versions of the cupcakes.  I left them the size that they pull over at but as you know if you have any of the Funky Hand Papercraft Factory CDs you can resize them as you wish, right up to A4 without any loss of sharpness to the image.

I layered the created backing paper onto some plain dark pink paper the stuck it onto a 6" square white base card.  This card was created for Ians neice's birthday and at age five she likes a bit of bling! So, I sprayed the whole card with silver glitter spray from Crafters Companion and left it over night to dry.  I think you can see the glitter pretty well in the picture above.

While the base card was drying I resized one of the sentiments 'have a YUMMY birthday' from the the Happy Happy Birthday CD and printed it out to top the card.  I coloured the YUMMY word in, using Letraset Promarkers after layering the sentiment on matching dark pink paper as with the base backing paper.

Once everything was dry, I have to say I was very impressed that the silver spray sparkle didn't fall off at all or rub off on my hands when I was working with it to finish the card, I layered the sentiment with 3mm deep foam pads to give it a decent height!

So, there you go my take on this months Get Funky Challenge.  Now it's your turn to join in!  We only have one rule on this challenge blog and it's very simple, make anything that you like BUT you need to include at least ONE Funky Hand product..that could be anything a paper and image digital or stamp.  I always offer you some help by including a relevant Funky Freebie on my website www.funkyhand.com so if you don't have any Funky Hand products yet you can still join in.  Pop over and grab the FREE download now.

If you join in you have a chance of winning your choice of any Funky Hand download for your prize so have fun joining in wth the challenge and get a chance of a prize.  OK, get you crafty socks on and get creating, We can't wait to visit your blogs and see what you have been up to.

Twice The Sentiments!

Welcome to my (Ruth) take on the current challenge! The theme this month is Sentimental and I've gone for an old favourite - word books! I've actually made two that fit together as they are for the same person.

I've used papers from the Boys and Girls Collection which sadly is no longer available. I've made the large letters in word and the smaller ones are die cuts. For more details please pop over to my blog to find out more!

Don't forget that you MUST use a Funky Hand product in your creation and Anice offers a freebie each month that fits the challenge theme.

Good luck with the challenge!

Keeping with the nice and simple theme I went for the Wordbook option - using papers and alphas from

The 'Happy Birthday' sentiment was cut from the text paper from the Birthday Boy collection on the CD - simply mat and layered onto co-ordinating card stock and popped up using 3D foam pads
Wordbook fastened together with eyelets.

Spring Celebrations on Easter Sunday

Happy Easter to you all.  I hope that you are all stocked up with plenty of chocolate eggs and have people that you love around you.

It's my turn, Anice, to give you a little inspiration for a card to Celebrate Spring, which is this months Get Funky Challenge.  I decided to make a bit of a grungy looking card to show you that all creations are welcome here!

All the backing papers used on the card are from our latest Funky Hand download release Spring Has Sprung  if you are reading this before 10pm on Monday 9th April pop over to my website www.funkyhand.com and you will be able to buy it at a discount price as we have a big Easter SALE on.  If not..it will still be there to buy just at the normal price which is only £3.19 anyway!!

I decided that I wanted to make a bit of a grungy roughed up looking card this month so I ripped up the backing papers and added them to the white 6" square base card leaving a bit of a gap between them.  I kept hold of the left over torn edges as you can see I added them to the card after more distressing.

You can probably see that I didn't stick all of the card down, just in the middle so that the ends stand off the card in an untidy, uneven way..that's just the effect I wanted for this card.

The main focus of the card is a flower that I cut with a Sizzix die I have had for years and years.  I have an original red sizzix machine that my Mom bought me as Christmas present when I started crafting six odd years ago.  I have to admit to not having any of the new fangled cutters or machines so it's harder and harder to get orginal Sizzix dies.  This one is called Flower Daisy #3. I cut the stem from the left over green printed backing paper that I had, and a full daisy flower from white card. The half flower was cut from a scrap of the spotted paper used at the bottom of the card. I decided that I wanted my flower not to be flat and tidy so in the grungy feel of the card I bent up the petals and leaves, inked their edges and doodled in Sakura Black glaze pen on the stem and the flower petals.  Here's a closer look..

It's not a neat, particularly pretty card but I was pleased with the effect in the end as I wanted to use the pretty pastel coloured papers from the Spring Has Sprung download collection but show that they can be used in a different way than pretty as well.  I hope you like my idea.

Now it's your turn to give the challenge a go and join in with us.  The winning entry will get a prize of any of my Funky Hand download collections.  You can choose which ever one you like.  There is only one rule on the Get Funky Challenge blog and that is that you use at least ONE Funky Hand product on your entry.  I make it pretty easy each month by offering a Funky Freebie backing paper on my website www.funkyhand.com that is changed each month so you can join in even if you don't have any Funky Hand stash just yet.

This months challenge ends on the 14th April so you still have a bit of time to get your entries in, it doesn't have to be a card it can be any sort of crafty creation, an ATC,some altered art anything at all.  We'd love to see what you create and visit you blogs.

Looking forward to seeing what you create.

Getting all Springy!

Kathy is our 'hostess with the mostest' this month and she has chosen Spring Celebrations as the theme....I don't know about blooming spring, I think my card should have snowflakes on it today :) I'm just amazed at how diverse our weather is and am finding it unbelievable that this time last week I was working outside on the patio  and tanning nicely. Now if I sat on the patio I would probably go rusty and freeze! Oh well back to the job in hand.

I have used oddments of paper from the Spring Has Sprung download, aren't they beautiful?! I cut the flowers from odd bits of paper left over from other projects and the butterflies were cut from another sheet from the download. I found the little Easter egg brad in one of my pots and I haven't got a clue where it came from.

We would love it if you could join in with our challenge but you must use a Funky Hand product. We say this every month but there are still people who ignore our one little rule. If you don't own anything from Funky Hand it isn't a problem as Anice has added a Funky Freebie craft backing paper download to the web site which can be downloaded from here .

Don't forget to let us know that you've joined in by adding your name to Mr Linky below.

It's a Spring Celebration!

I don't know about you but I think the lovely Kathy definetely picked the right theme for this month's Funky Fifteenth. Spring has certainly sprung with the gorgeous weather we've been having, I am dreading it ending! Kathy's original post is here

As everyone knows Easter is coming up and for me it's one of the few celebrations I don't give cards for. So to challenge myself I decided to use the new Spring has Sprung collection to make an Easter card! Both the image and the papers are from the collection. It's just a simple card (I am a simple girl really) but I do love the colours.

To enter and be in with the chance of winning the Spring has Sprung download (or the download of your choice) just click on the blue frog and link to your crafty item. The only rule we have here is that we need to see at least one item from Funky Hand used in your creation. There are tons of downloads and cds available on the Funky Hand website and if you don't have any Funky Hand stash Anice has even produced a gorgeous freebie paper so you can play along!

Have fun and can't wait to see what you make :o)
