It's Get Funky December Challenge!

Hi Everyone, Anice here, hope you are enjoying the lovely weather we are having! Can you believe that the year is coming to an end..maybe it's just me getting older but boy time really flies these days! Congratulations to our winner Sally from last month and welcome to this months Get Funky! Challenge.

We are very lucky, this month to be combining our challenge with another challenge blog Kathys Waffle Sketch File so you will have two chances of being a winner!! Kathy of course is a wonderful member of our Design Team so, as this is the last month of the year, and I needed some help this month getting everything together for the challenge, Kathy stepped in like an angel and offered us this wonderful sketch to follow for this months Get Funky Challenge:

Now, I know how you all like a good sketch to follow so I'd like to see plenty of entries this month to round the year off nicely. I have to hang my head in shame as I haven't been able to get to my office for almost a week because of the snow and all my crafting stash is locked up in there so..I haven't been able to make an inspiration card so far..but I'll post it up here as soon as it's done. Though we still have some wonderful cards from the rest of the Design Team to offer you some inspiration,

First up is a wonderful creation from Kathy our sketch angel this month. She has created a fabby note pad using papers from the Colour Me Happy CD Rom. Isn't it just great? I'm so lucky to have such talented crafters to work with.
Next we have a creation from Allison:

Allison created this card using the Funky Hand Salt and Pepper download collection..and very classy it is as well!

Debs decided on a Christmas themed card..which I think she is allowed at this time of the year. She has used paper from the Colour Me Happy Cd Rom and a Christmas Tree image from the digi stamps included in the All I want for Xmas download collection. I just love the pom poms on this one!

Enfys has given us another Christmas card but with a very different feel made with papers from the Colour Me Happy CD ROM I love the idea of the house representing the family.

Jane has decided to go the Christmas theme way as well with this fab gingham creation using papers from the Colour Me Happy CD ROM. I love how warm the card appears being based with the craft coloured card.

Jules has created a beautiful layered card using papers from one of the Funky Hand original collection CD Roms Funky Seasons (which if you didn't know, have all be permanently reduced in price on our website) and the most amazing coloured snow flakes it's a beautiful use of the sketch.

Lou has created a card away from the Christmas trend using papers and digi stamps from the Dreams Come True CD Rom. I love the stitching on this card it is just wonderful.

Last but by no means least I bring you Ruths creation for this month..

I just love the card Ruth has created using the sketch and papers from the Colour Me Happy CD ROM. What a great idea to add the iccicles to the card..we were told on the the DT forum that she buys up Christmas decorations in the January sales ready for next years Christmas cards..now theres a good little tip for you!

Well I hope all this wonderful inspiration will encourage you to join in with our challenge this month. We love to see your creations and visit your blogs.

As Get Funky! has now got through it's first year we have decided that it's time for a bit of a change around. So from the New Year we are going to have a few changes happening around here. We are still working on the finer details but there is going to be much more for you to come and have a look at during the month, each month on the challenge blog and we have decided to change our challenge start date from the first of the month to the Funky 15th! That's just the first of the changes so, we'll see you here at the beginning of next year with the winner of the final Get Funky! challenge for 2010 and by then we will be able to share a few more details about what 2011 is going to involve.

Now, go on Get Funky! and join in with this months challenge we are waiting to see what you create with Kathys fab sketch.

Have a wonderful end to the year from us all here at Funky Hand in the office and on the Design Team.
Anice xx

A Funky Flower Festival for September

 Hi there
Another month, another new challenge here on Get Funky!
Thank you to all who joined in our First Birthday Celebratory challenge last month - for our September challenge I'd like you to help me (Kathy) celebrate my own birthday which occurs in the middle of this month!
If you've ever visited my personal blog, you'll already know that I just can't stop using flowers on my cards and projects, so what I'd really love to see is a

Fabulous Funky Floral Fantasy
The catch is that I need to see lots of dimension in the way you use the flowers, so just a flower patterned paper, or a flat flowery image just won't cut it!  Think lots of layers or try making some of the wonderful 3d flowers that are around at the moment - there are lots of tutorials and you-tube videos out there to get you started.

So - any project you like - could be cards, books, Scrapbook pages.... whatever, it all counts as long as there are some luscious 3d flowers for us to see! The other thing to remember is that your project will only be eligible for the prize if you use at least one Funky Hand product - there are LOADS of papers and extras to choose from so that bit won't be difficult! Click HERE for a quick link to the Funky Hand website ;-).

Here's how to be in with a chance of winning this month's £20.00 voucher to spend in the Funky Hand on-line shop:
1. Add your Fabulous Funky Floral Fantasy. project to your blog,
2. Don't forget to say which Funky Hand product(s) you've used,
3. Come back before midnight Sept 30th (UK time) and leave a message with a link so that we can see what you've made.
Here's what the Funky Hand Gang have made this month, we hope you'll find something here to inspire you to join in

This month sees the first Get Funky! submissions from our three latest DT members, so look out for the fab projects Debs, Jane and Lou have made.
Right, here we go - lots and lots of flowers for you delight!

Firstly, just look at the wonderful layered flower Allison made using designs from the Colour Me Happy CD
Enfys printed a design from the Colour Me Happy CD directly onto a scalloped edge card base, the flowers were also cut from one of the pattern papers.
Lou also used designs from the Colour Me Happy CD to make the background and those fabulous pleated flowers
Sumptuous - there's no better word to describe  the card Jules has made this month, these papers are from the Dreams Come True CD
The "Blissful Baby" collection from the Colour Me Happy CD was Dolly's choice of paper for this fabulous shaped card. I just adore her beautiful handmade flower
Next, a veritable bouquet of lovely layered blooms adorning the corner of Jane's gorgeous project! These papers are from the Dreams Come True CD
Debs used papers from one of the Funky Hand Download collections (Hearts & Flowers) to create this soft and oh-so-pretty card

I love the pot of flowers with the string bow that Kath has made this month - and the flower border panel just sets it all off so perfectly, these lovely papers are from the "Now That's Funky" CD
Lythan's fabulous central layered flower is just sooooo striking, it really grams your attention. I just love the colours and mix of paper designs she's chosen to use for this card.  These designs are more from the latest CD "Colour Me Happy"
Just look at the wonderful bunch of flowers that Ruth has made using papers printed from the Funky Daze CD.  Wouldn't they be just perfect for taking to a loved one in a hospital with a "no real flowers" rule?
Below we have Bold and Beautiful colours and patterns for the layered flowers from Anice. These designs are from the Colour Me Happy CD.  That's "real" sewing you can see on there (Anice seemed keen that we should know that....hehe)

Which just leaves me (Kathy) to add a couple of photos of the caddy and flower centre I made using one of my fave sets (Contented Coffee) from the Colour Me Happy CD.  I had such a ball making all these flowers - it was actually hard to stop myself from making even more!

I hope you've enjoyed seeing what we've been making - you can click on any of these photos and have a closer look, btw. Hopefully you now just can't wait to get started making some flowery creations of your own!  I'm really looking forward to seeing the flowers you make for this challenge.
Happy Crafting

Kathy

A 'Stitched' pocket from Jules, using Colour Me Happy. I love the key and keyring, so clever.

Funky Hand meets Tim Holtz on this pretty ‘Flower’ pocket from Enfys. The flowers were made with TH dies and FH digi stamps from Dreams Come True, genius!
