Lou's Christmas 'v' Non christmas!!!

Morning Peeps!!!
I hope you all got yourself some fabulous funky bargains in the birthday sale yesterday!!
Its me, Lou, with my christmassy 'v' non- christmassy makes for our lovely Jackie's Challenge- to make a traditional christmas something and a non- christmas something!!
The funkettes have all been using the latest Funky Hand craft CD Twelve Crafters Crafting for both cards.

For my first make I used the awesome Funky Freebie Anice made, co-ordinating with the vintage christmas colour way on the cd, I absolutely love it! those little trees are way too cute!! I teamed them up with a little gingerbread man and some hearts using some funky scraps from my stash of scraps and a little poem I found on google written in the workspace on 12 cc.

Then it was onto my nono- christmassy make!! I just had to use the pillowbox template from the workspace too, It is fabulous. You can resize it if you want but I just have to tell you that the size it goes on to fit an A4 piece of paper is fabulous, I made my mum one the other day for her friends new baby and we fitted a cute little onesie in it!!
I used Angel on the Tree colourway for this one, the parcels are one of the digi's from the workspace and the text is done in the writer part of the workspace and it my very favourite text on there! it makes the coolest ever labels!!!

Now for the important bit......please include at least one Funky Hand paper, digital stamp, stamp image whatever you have from Funky Hand, on your card to be in with a chance to win the prize of a Funky Hand Download collection of your choice.

If you don't own any Funky Hand products yet don't worry as Anice always include a Funky Freebie paper on the website www.funkyhand.com each month especially so you can join in.

Hugs Lou xxx

And here's the linky doodle for you to add your fabby makes!!!

Funky Hand isn't just for Christmas..it's for everything!

Hello Get Funky! followers, Anice here this time. Our lovely Jackie set us quite a little crafty tester this month making a traditional Christmas card (well as traditional as Funky Hand gets anyway!) and then using Christmas papers to make a completely different sort of card.

All the Design Team are using the latest Funky Hand craft CD Twelve Crafters Crafting for both cards so without going on any further I'll let you see what I came up for this months challenge.  First here's my Christmas card..

It's an easel card using the template you will find on the Twelve Crafters Crafting CD ROM  The papers are all from the Merry Christmas collection from the CD. You'll also find the Christmas Tree digital stamp and sentiment. They have both been coloured using Promarker pens.  I blinged it up a bit with some green sequins around the top to get a bit more sparkle on the card.

The second card is completely different..

This was also made with papers from the Christmas CD Twelve Crafters Crafting, the collection I used is O' Christmas Tree.
I used two different papers from the collection and the 'It's a Boy!' topper was created in the workspace of the CD using the characters drop down section, in matching colours to the papers.  It's very easy to use the letters in the workspace, re size them to the size you want and then overlay them slightly so that they all become one word..obviously this is three words but it makes it easier to cut it out to make your own personalised topper.  I just added some very simple doodling onto the papers and letters with a black Sakura pen and added some blue foam hands and feet that I found at the bottom of one of my stash boxes!

There, I think that proves that Twelve Crafters Crafting can be used for other crafting as well as your Christmas cards

Making this card is good practice for me as we have two little boys about to be born into our family. So I'll be making baby cards very soon to send out!  I wont use this as both Mommys will probably have seen this one here and that would be a bit naughty!!

So, there you go that's my cards for this months challenge.  I hope they have inspired you a little to get involved with the challenge this month.  The ONLY RULE we have here on the Get Funky Challenge blog is one that alot of our entrants seem to over look..please include at least one Funky Hand paper, digital stamp, stamp image whatever you have from Funky Hand, on your card to be in with a chance to win the prize of a Funky Hand Download collection of your choice. If you don't own any Funky Hand products yet don't worry, I always include a Funky Freebie paper on my website www.funkyhand.com each month especially so you can join in.

So, lets see what you create, we are really looking forward to visiting your blogs!

Not Just For Christmas....

Hello Funky Followers!
Kathy here today with my  projects for Jackie's 2 part challenge:
Here's what Jackie said on the Funky Fifteenth of November
So my challenge for this month is a cheeky double whammy. I would like you to make
1, A Christmas project using "Traditional colours" meaning red, green, gold, silver etc not the lilacs or blues etc which are around at the mo
2, A non Christmas card or project using Christmas papers please.

What a great way to show just how brilliantly versatile the Twelve Crafters Crafting collection is.  Okay, so maybe most of the fab digi-images won't be much use over the year - but the papers and templates certainly are as only a couple of the designs are totally Christmassy and the colours are fabulous for all sorts of projects - this challenge will prove it as every couple of days we'll be sharing our Christmas and non-Christmas projects with you.

I completely missed my friend's son's birthday - so I've made an "oops" card to send to him.
The sentiment was made using the writer facility in the workspace on the CD.
First I loaded my choice of paper and grabbing the corner made it much smaller.
Then I "wrote" my message and put it on top of the paper design - this way you get sentiment and paper all in one go.
I filled up the remaining space on the workspace with more paper designs before clicking the print button
Here's my card using the Xmas Presents set  from Twelve Crafters Crafting - I've used 8 of them on this one!
Materials:
All papers from TWELVE CRAFTERS CRAFTING CD,  Sentiment created on the workspace
Black Stickles, Glossy Accents, Imaginisce hot fix turquoise gems
Tools:
large and small star punches

I tend to keep my Christmas cards fairly simple, so that I can churn them out in batches, but allow myself some room to change the design from card to card so that I don't get too bored. I also love to use my growing collection of dies as they make creating lots of little bits to put on the cards a breeze. So I thought I'd share some photos of what I'm making this year.

I've used the Vintage Christmas set for these cards
I work in stages;
Stage 1 is to cut strips of a few papers and stick them onto scraps of Bazzill. card - you can get a lot of trees. baubles etc from just a 5x10cm strip
Stage 2 is to die-cut a batch of shapes from each of the card strips
Stage 3 is to edge the shapes with an ink pad or Krylon pen
Stage 4 is to assemble them onto your cards and add some glitter, gems etc to highlight

As well as the Funky Hand papers, on these cards I've usedCuttlebug and Spellbinders dies, Ice Stickles, Regular Stickles, Glamour Dust, Tiny star punch, Gold crochet thread

I hope you're feeling inspired have a go at our double-edged challenge this month.  There's just ONE RULE - and you'd be amazed at how many people ignore it!

You MUST include at least one Funky Hand Product - paper, digital image, template etc on your project to be in with a chance to win the prize of a Funky Hand Download collection of your choice.
If you don't own any Funky Hand products yet don't worry, each month there's  a new  Funky Freebie paper which can be found here: www.funkyhand.com  so you can join in.

Thanks for tuning in today, come back soon for the next double instalment of Funky Crafting!

An Autumnal Partridge!

Hello all! Jenny here! I'm the last Funkette up this month. Here's my Autumnal card...

I've used a basic brown card base, some beautiful paper from the Tea's Up! download (which, as you can see, is not just for tea time!) and the 'partridge in his usual type of tree' image (not just for Christmas!) from the Twelve Crafters Crafting CD. I printed the image on to water colour card & inked it up with Spiced Marmalade & Walnut Stain Distress Inks. The tree, partridge & pears are coloured with Promarkers.

I do hope you've enjoyed this month's challenge! There's been some fabulous entries so far and if you've not yet joined in you can find all the details on how to enter here! But be quick....entry closes on 14th! Also, don't forget to get your hands on the Funky Freebie before then too!

Jackie will be here on the 15th launching the brand new challenge which I have a sneaky feeling will be somewhat seasonal! Fa la la la lah! ;)

Stay Funky!
Jenny

Autumn can mean lots of things!!

Hello Funky Friends,

It's Paula here, and i'm with you today to bring you my creation/interpretation of the autumnal theme set by our lovely Amanda.

Well, I started to work on a project to bring to you this time, but then remembered I'd already made a card the other day which was in autumnal colours  - which is unusual because its a 'congratulations on your pregnancy' card.  It's not a massive card, but I have put my biggest hugs and best wishes in there, so hopefully it's big enough for that!

I hope that my photos are OK for you this time, because my proper camera has broken (the motorised lens barrel won't go back in, and when I keep pressing the power button - all it does is clicks, so i've had to leave it like it.  It's happened once before and it righted itself, but not holding out any hope this time.

Anyway, because I've taken these pictures on my mobile phone, I hope that the quality is good, but then again - the colours are so vivid anyway that half the battle is won already!

For my card, I've used the Craft The Year Away CD ROM and used papers from my favourite colour collection 'January Blues'.   Well let me tell you - if you're looking for miserable colours because its just January... you are really mistaken.  These are my favourites on the CD (did I mention that already?).

I've also used a digi from that CD too which is the pram, and the reason I've used the pram is because my best friend has told me that her daughter has announced that she's pregnant again - with baby number 2, so I did a little card to congratulate them - they already have a four year old son.

On the worksheet area of the CD, I loaded up three papers (brown, the cream and the unusual striped one).  I then reduced them to a quarter of the page size (A6) then dragged the image of the pram four times.  To make sure you re size everything to exactly the same size, click on each image while holding down the 'shift' key which will 'group' them together, then drag one of the corners to re size as desired.  This re sizes all four at the same time.  Each image of the pram was then dragged on to each of the quarters of the page - as follows:

You can see that once I have selected all four images that only ONE box appears around them all - also, the bottom right square on the box has turned green.  This is because I clicked on it so I could re size the box, which basically means that all four of the images get re-sized at the same time.  You can see all the other great digi stamps to the left of the workspace - well actually, that's not half of them judging by how far the scroll bar has still got to go down the digi-stamp page!

So, after printing the above out - which is only one click in the programme (then it brings your own printer option box up), I cut each of the prams out, but the plain white one was kept intact with its white background as that was to be its mat too (you'll see what I mean when you see the card).

After snipping up all the elements from each of the coloured images - wheels, body, canopy/hood, frill... I started playing around by placing them on the white version - I was seeing which combination would work the best.  For those who aren't aware, this is what paper piecing is.

I didn't want the card to look either too masculine nor too feminine either  because when all said and done, no-one knows what the sex of the baby is, and its not due until late May 2012 anyway although I'll bet they will want to find out.

The greeting on the card is the congratulations banner, which I placed over the striped paper to get exactly the look I wanted.  I then matted the finished image onto the multi-coloured polka dotty paper from the same collection to bring the look together.

Even though the collection is called 'January Blues', I personally think that it is full of the warm colours of Autumn and the collection remains my favourite on 'Craft The Year Away'.

You still have 4 whole days in which to join in - and if you can't because you don't have any Funky Hand papers to craft with - particularly any autumnal colours, Anice has kindly designed a Funky Freebie especially for the challenge.  In order to qualify for the challenge - you only need use this backing paper in some way on your project with anything else you have from your stash.

Here is a thumbnail of the freebie - which you can download by going HERE:

Here are the bits left over after I did the hack job on all three samples (enough to make 2 more prams, but nothing to mount them on):

Looks like child's play!

Here is my finished card complete with greeting:

So there you have it, a very different kind of card for the autumn theme - got the colours about right, and I need to add that, the news of the impending birth was announced in autumn afterall!  Actually, I think its a good name for a girl and I'm pretty sure that I've heard someone call their kid that already...

Be sure to check out Amanda's post HERE and read all the rules before you join in the challenge... (well, there's only one, which is to use something by Funky Hand on your project - and there's no excuse because I already told you (above) that there is a freebie for those who don't have anything by Funky Hand already.)))  This freebie will no longer be available once this challenge is closed, because there will be another one in its place to co-ordinate with the new challenge's theme.

If you do decide to join in with us, just add your card to the inlinks gadget at the bottom of each of this months posts... and remember that the challenge will change on the funky 15th November.

Thanks for reading and happy crafting one and all,

Just to say ....

Hi everyone, Katina here. Hope you're all well and enjoying this month's fab Get Funky Autumn challenge set by my lovely team mate Amanda. Today it's my turn to show what I've made for her.

I don't know about you, but I always seem to need a little card in a hurry to say thanks, get well or something similar and I never seem to have one ready. So I decided to make a little note card with an autumnal theme that will be winging it's way to the recipient very soon!

I made my white base card using the largest scalloped circle die I have and then covered the front with a brown scalloped circle the same size. I then printed off a sheet of this month's gorgeous freebie paper which is on the Funky Hand website. I cut a circle from this, mounted it onto a white circle and stuck it to my base card. The leaves have been drawn and then coloured with Promarkers. I shaped them a bit with my embossing tool and then used 3D foam pads to attach them to my card.

So that's what I did, now it's your turn! You still have a few days to join in but
don't forget that you MUST use at least one Funky Hand product in your creation and if you don't have anything just click on the Funky Hand website www.funkyhand.com and you will find a Funky Freebie paper that will fit the theme perfectly!

Good luck and we can't wait to see what you create! Closing date is Monday 14 November and a new challenge will be set the day after.

Fifty

It's now my (Ruth) turn to hopefully provide some inspiration for our current Autumn themed challenge!

I really do like making word books but this one does not use any templates - I've printed the pages and then made the letters using wordart, cut everything out, layered the letters and then stuck it down!

Some gold stickles around the letters with the smaller letters being die cuts plus some matching ribbon from my stash and its all complete! All the papers are from Dreams Come True.

Funky Fall

Hi folks, I can't believe it is my turn to post again already!! I'm sure someone has been reducing the my months by a week lol

Amanda set the challenge for this month and she chose the theme of Autumn. This is what I came up with for her
I printed off a sheet of the freebie paper which is on the Funky Hand web site and also the tool digital stamp from the Colour Me Happy cd rom. I made myself a template for the apron and messed with it until it was the correct size and proportion and printed them off. Next I used a copy of the cd to print off the papers etc and cut it out before. It was then just a quickie to add everything to the card base.

I think that's about it for now but take care and sleep su.iose.

Thanks for you looking, with love
Jackie
