Gift wrapping

Hi all,

It's Debbie here,a few days later than expected, but better late than never I guess.
Well are you all organised? I've a couple of cards to finish, so late this year and pressies to wrap.
On the subject of wrapping, I'm always striving to wrap presents up better and if there is a short cut, I'm there...... Here's a step by step on a pillow box I made this week using Anice's Twelve Crafters Crafting cd-rom

There are always new people starting out who may not know how to put one together, so bear with me if you already know.

I chose a backing paper from the cd-rom,then clicked and dragged the template across and printed it out:

The dashes at the sides are for scoring and folding once you've cut the template out.

Fold it in half, flatten it and glue the tab
Here is the finished pillow box. If I can make 1 anyone can do it. I just added a wooden bell embellishment, but you can add whatever you want.

Why not share some of your Funkyhand makes or views with us either by leaving a link below in the comments or on our Facebook page.

Marleen DT - Sneak peak of new image

Hi everyone..

Its time for my monthly inspiration post for

Today I have a sneak preview of a new image to show you.
She is called "Rainy day Georgie" and you can find her in the STORE very soon..

Ive used the papers from the Rainbow stripy download as well as the Rainbow polkadots downlaod.

Here is what Ive made:

To make this card, Ive mattet and layered my papers. I then printed out Georgie and coloured with promarkers. After colouring, I covered the image with doublesided sticky sheet and dipped the image into a big tub of micro glass beads. I finished with a sentiment and a brad.

And that is all from me for today.
Thank you for popping by and for any comments left behind.

Have a paw-fect christmas!!

Morning everyone!!

Lou in with a little make for you today. I made 10 of these little cards for my friend who is an absolute hero at our local RSPCA  branch. They are having a craft fair day on the 13th December so I am hoping to get a few more makes in!!

The papers in the T Dawg wordbook download are just so paw-fect for cute pet themed cards, I love them. I printed them out at half size so none of that cute bone detail was missed on the little stocking!

I think that the Kendrick Kat Wordbook is going to get the same use this week for some more with a kitty theme!! he he he!!

I would love to make a whole stack more of these as a thank you for my gorgeous little Dasher who we rescued from the local RSPCA kennels and we are picking him up today!

Thank you for popping in

Claws, Meow and Jingle

Morning

It's Debbie here with a card I put together with the recent release of the Kendrick Kat Wordbook. The papers and wordbook pages aren't necessarily for you to create only wordbooks. I like to set myself a challenge when Anice creates a new download for Funkyhand to try something different.

There is nothing wrong with making a wordbook as the possibilities are endless, after all Anice is the queen creator of them. The papers are so fun and quirky in this collection.

For my card I opened the file up in my graphics program and made Kendrick kat do some fun poses!!!!! He is so cool....

I typed a sentiment and started to put my card together. I cut out some of the words from 1 of the papers to add some interest.

If you want to share any of your makes or views with us either below or on our Facebook page we'd love to see them.

Marleen DT - Wash it all away.

Morning everyone..

Bit of inspration from me today for
Funky Hand.

Today I want to share a little project Ive made with the "Wash it all Away" download.
I love this download as its one of those I can use to indulge in my passion for vintage while still keeping it up to date..

Here is what I have made:

For this project I decided to make something really different for me.
I made a little gift box and a matching card, but its the content of the box that was my original idea.

Before I made the box or card, I made the pegs.
They started as normal wooden pegs. I simply painted them white and cut strips of a paper and glues on. The stars are cut with a die and stuck on with foam pads and glitter glue added.
To make the pegs a bit more durable, I covered them with a coat of varnish.

I decided I wanted to make a little gift box for my pegs so searched the net for a freebie template, but couldnt find one. So instead I had a go at making my own.. Its the first time Ive tried to make a box freehand but I think it turned out ok..

A simple matching card.

And that is it from me for today. I hope you like what I made.
Thank you for stopping by and for any comments left behing

A Twisted Tube Treat

Hello, Kathy here today with am idea for a Treat Box which might come in handy for Halloween, or Christmas or whatever other reasons you can think of for giving someone a little treat.
The great thing about this one is that you can make it in whatever size you like as the starting point is simply a rectangle of thick paper or thin card.

 Twisted Tube Treat Box

Because of the shape of these boxes, the easiest way to work out what size box you need is to have a "dry run" using a sheet of ordinary A4 paper first.  For instance even using a quarter of a sheet of A4 will produce a box big enough to hold a lot of small sweets like Smarties or Jelly Tots - if you want to make tiny boxes to hang on your Christmas Tree, consider making them even smaller.
So just cut a sheet of scrap A4 into half to start with and  follow these instructions to get the idea first

For this Halloween themed treat box, I started with a rectangle that is a quarter of a sheet of A4.  I've used Spookie Dookie  for this one
Turn to the "wrong" side and from one edge, fold in about 1cm and make a crease.  Apply glue or tape down the folded piece
Now,bring the other edge over to line up with the crease and stick down to form a tube - just like the card  inner tube from a loo roll!

Now, flatten one end of the tube - keep the join at one side of the flattened end, use glue or tape to stick these two edges together. I find glue is a bit easier to apply on the inside edge.  You may find it useful to have a supply of mini bulldog clips handy to hold all the edges in place while they dry

For the next crease you need to flatten the top end of the box in the other direction - this time, make the crease but don't do any sticking as your box needs to be filled first! You should end up with a box with 4 triangular "faces"

At this point you need to decide two things: what to put in it and how to close it.
You could just add glue as before and maybe make a sticker to decorate the box with
If you want little boxes to hang on the Christmas Tree you could simply fill with goodies, then add the glue as before, but remembering to tuck in a loop of Bakers Twine to hang it with.
Or if you've made a larger box,  punch some holes and thread ribbon through to hold the opening together - this is nicer for a gift box, I think.
Or punch a medium sized circle and stick half down on each side of the box opening - it would be simple then to open with scissors

How about making 24 of these in some  of Funky Hand's Christmas designs (such as these form Funky Hand's Yule Be Funky CDrom)- add a number to each , hang them on a branch or display in a big bowl and you've got a unique and stylish Advent Calendar.

That's it for this time, I hope you like these little boxes and will have ago at making some for yourself.  We'd love to see if you do....
Happy Crafting

Keep In Touch with this great new download!

Hi everyone Anice here,

It's been ages since we have released a new backing paper download so, here's one for you!  Keep In Touch. It's a bright little number as you can see below, great for crafting for the young..and not so young as well!

It's a big old download, 22 A4 high resolution backing papers and 2 matching topper pages.  That's just over 10p a paper, and you have them to print off forever!

This download has proved popular with my Design Team ladies and they have created some amazing this using it.

Kathy has resized some of the toppers to use as embellishments on her card.  That the great thing about digital crafting you are incharge and can make the papers and images whatever size you need. Oh by the way what a cracking card this is eh?

Lou has decided to make some notelets and aren't they fab.  Funky Hand backing paper collections are not just for making handmade cards.  If you can think of any crafty project that you need paper for they can be used as they can be printed onto whatever you need.  As long as it will go through your printer of course!!

To see lots more fabulous crafty creations from the Design Team go over to the Funky Hand website www.funkyhand.com and take a look at the gallery on the Keep In Touch product page.

While you're over there, why not add Keep In Touch to your basket?  You know you need it!
