Autumn Challenge and Exciting News

Hi Everyone

Jules here

I hope you are enjoying the

Autumn Challenge

this month which was set by my lovely Funky Hand playmate Amanda.

We have had lots of lovely entries to the challenge already
.. .. although sadly some people are not following the rules and will therefore not be eligible for winning a fabby download when the challenge closes on the 14th November.

All you need to do to make sure you qualify is use at least one Funky product and follow the theme. As always Anice has provided a Funky Freebie paper for you to use and you can find that here.

All of the Funkettes have had a great time with the theme but before I jump in and show you what I created .. .. I want to ask you not to disappear from this post too quickly as there is some exciting news at the end of this post that you just won't want to miss!

NO!!!!!!! .. .. don't go to the end yet .. ... look at my make first!!!

This was created using some of the design papers and the pillow box template and label from the new

Twelve Crafters Crafting Papercraft Factory CD

that is due for release on Saturday the 5th November
but will be available for pre order TODAY by visiting http://www.funkyhand.com/

The CD was designed with Christmas in mind
and features lots of gorgeous papers and images, the wordbook generator, fonts,
sentiments and templates all just waiting to be manipulated on the legendary workspace
.. .. well I could go on for ever .. ..
but basically it holds everything you come to expect from one of
Anice's fantastic Papercraft Factory CDs.

Although the CD is Christmas orientated my Autumn Challenge project shows that you will be able to use it for more than just Christmas projects.

So that is the challenge part of this post .. .. now round to the exciting news I eluded to at the start of this post.

Today marks the launch of our very first
BLOG HOP
which is to celebrate the launch of the new Christmas themed craft CD ROM
The winner of the Blog Hop prize will be announced on Monday 31st.

I hope you are going to enjoy hopping around all the Design Team Blogs to see examples of what we have all created with the new Christmas CD.

If you would like to see even more of this fabulous CD
then tune into Create and Craft
on Wednesday, 9th November
at 8.00am and 1.00pm so see the CD in its full glory!!

OK .. .. .. TIME TO GET HOPPING
ON THE

WOO HOO!!

The first place you need to visit is the blog of our lovely leader Anice
and she will explain to you all you need to know for joining in the fun.

So your first stop needs to be Anice on her lovely blog here

Have a great weekend and happy hopping
Love Jules xx
(hope to see you later on the blog hop!!).

Lou's spooky autumn scrap page!

Morning peeps!!!!

Its Lou here with my little make for....

I decided to get my monthly scrap page done with this challenge and had a lot of help from my little Harry Potter wizard, Mo !!!!

I used some a delicious selection of papers from the Orange October colour way on the Craft The Year Away papercraft factory, armed with the sketch from our very own gorgeous Kathy for the placement of everything ofmy page. Then in came the help from little mo! he wrote his favourite halloween chant on the layout with a white gel pen! If you can't read it, it says "Trick or Treat, smell my feet" he also wrote the year on the piccy on the gravestone! I doodled some stitches (........which Mo decided looked like "scribbley boney stitches" !!!!).
There is some very nice pretend spider web around Mo and I added a nice big plastic spider to a nestified circle of a bit of paper that was left from the background of the page. The bats were cut in my cricut..

So, there is still plenty of time for you to join in with our Autumn fun.The rules are super easy, Your project can be anything but remember......

YOU MUST INCLUDE AT LEAST ONE FUNKY HAND PRODUCT.

Don't worry if you don't own any Funky Hand cd's or downloads yet as Anice has made us a fabulous Funky Freebie for you to join in with. I can't wait to see what you all make!!!

Huge hugs Lou xxxxx

Are you ready to get scary?

Hi everyone, I hope you are enjoying this months Autumn themed challenge from Amanda.

Even though this time of year, here in the UK, means the snow is probably not far away. (Oh please don't subject us to a repeat of last years weather..) It is still a lovely time of year with the leaves changing colour and all the animals getting ready for the winter.  Can you tell that I have moved further from the city and I am actually seeing animals in their normal environment? Well I have and it's ..interesting for a city girl like me.  With all this talk you would have thought that I would have embraced this new insight into Autumn and made a card reflecting this..errr no!  I have decided to go the Halloween route and here is my card..

For the base of my card I printed this months Funky Freebie available on my website www.funkyhand.com onto a piece of white card.  When I printed it I set my printer to print without borders and it means you get the whole card covered and when you score and fold it in half to make an A5 card base it has the paper printed on the back as well.  I then used the striped paper from my craft CD Craft The Year Away from the Collection Orange October, which is actually the collection I used to base the colours for this months Funky Freebie on so all that collections papers will match it perfectly. The sentiment was also created using the writer on the CD.

The pumpkin is a digital stamp from the same CD which I made quite large and printed just the line drawing out as I thought I'd give a bit of colouring a go this month!  I coloured it using Letraset Promarkers, and highlighted the pumpkin shaped lines I'd drawn with Sakura Glaze pens.  The white highlighting was also done with a Sakura pen. Here's a closer look..

Now, I know I'm not the best colourer in the craft world but I keep having a go and learning new ideas so hopefully I'll improve as I go along!

That's one of the big messages I want to get over to any new crafters who are reading this post and are thinking..oh I've only just started, my cards aren't good enough to join in with this challenge..Pah!  Everyone has to start somewhere and papercrafting is always evolving with new products to use and new techniques to try.  Take the bull by the horns and join in this month.  You'll never get any negative comments from our team here at Funky Hand as we just want you to enjoy your crafting..and we want to see it!  Heck if I'll show you my cards each month then no one should be shy!!

There are only two rules for joining in with our challenges each month and they are to follow the challenge set for that month and to use at least one Funky Hand product on your creation.  Now if you haven't any Funky Hand stuff in your stash yet don't worry that's why I give you a relevant Funky Freebie download each month so there is no reason for you not to have a go.  If you do join in you have a chance to win a free Funky Hand download collection of your choice so what have you got to lose?

I'm looking forward to seeing what you create and looking forward to seeing what other fab inspirational creations the rest of the Funky Hand Design Team share with us all this month.

Have fun crafting!
Anice xx

Debs Autumn Leaves

Good morning. Today it's my (Debs) turn to share with you my Funky Fifteenth inspiration for

Get Funky
where this month the lovely Amanda has picked the theme

AUTUMN
As always the fabulous Anice has generously provided a Funky Freebie for those that may not have any Funky Hand products to work with
(remember that you must use at least 1 Funky Hand product to qualify for the prize on offer)
and I decided that it was just perfect for my card :

So used it as the background to my image topper - which I printed from the Dreams Come True Papercraft Factory CD and coloured with PM's
I inked the edges with Distress Ink.
The DP across the centre panel is also from FDream Come True - from the aptly named Autumn Style collection.
To finish I added a couple of Spellbinder die cut leaves with a button and some twine from stash.

We are all looking forward to seeing your beautiful Autumnal projects - hope you can join us.
Don't forget to pop back on the 23 October to see what the wonderful boss lady herself has cooked up for your inspiration.

Thanks for popping by.
Have a  fabulous day.

Autumn Notes with Kathy

Hi Funky Hand Followers
Kathy here today with my project for Amanda's lovely Funky Fifteenth Autumn themed challenge

Amanda said:
"Here in Scotland the weather (as always) has been lousy but we are seeing some really beautiful changes in the trees, there have been some really gorgeous coloured leaves blowing around in the wind. So with that in mind I have chosen Autumn as this month's theme, make of that whatever you will. Autumn colours, Autumn images, Halloween, whatever you like as long as I can see something Autumnal in there I'll be a happy wee panda!!"

As usual there's a prize of a fabulous free download on offer to one lucky winner this month - as long as you remember our one Golden Rule it could be you who wins it.
The one Golden Rule is:
Whatever you make, it must feature at least one Funky Hand product

To make that a really easy rule to stick to, Anice has produced a wonderful new Funky Freebie - it's only available for one month and is absolutely perfect for the Autumn theme. - so that will make it easy for anyone to join in, even those who don't have any Funky Hand stash (yet)

Here's my little note block project for this month - I've made loads of these over the last couple of years, they're cheap and easy to make, and they are really useful to keep by the phone or on your desk - they make great little gifts too.  You wouldn't believe they start out life as an empty cereal packet, would you?  You can get the note blocks to put in them for about 50p each (check out Wilkinson's or Tesco)- and you can divide them up to make 2 or even 3 note blocks.

One of the many fab things about The Funky Hand downloads and CDs is that once you've bought them they are there to use as much as you like - so you can print as many sheets as you need to do a project - great for cards, but wonderful for larger projects such as albums, notebooks, gift boxes etc.  It doesn't matter if you mes up, or if you need more than one sheet - you can just print some more!

The papers I've used are all from the Craft the Year Away cd. I've used three designs on this noteblock.  I've used bits left over from covering the cereal packet base and cover to make some little coiled flowers for the top.
Once the basic cover is made it's time to go as mad as you like with ribbons, flowers, brads and buttons to decorate the top. I always leave sticking the inside paper to the cover till all the decorative bits are done - this way the ends of the ribbon, any messy stitches and brad prongs etc are covered over and out of sight.
The very last thing is to add some glitter and Glossy Accents (which you can find in the Funky Stash section of the Funky Shop at the brilliant price of £4.95, btw!  For this note block I added glitter to the "notes" label (cut on my Craft Robo), and also to the buttons.  I like to seal in the glitter with another coat of Glossy Accents.
I hope you like my project this month and that it helps show how versatile Funky Hand CDs and Downloads are.

We're looking forward to seeing what your Autumn themed projects will be, so please come back and leave us a link when you're ready to share - don't forget to use that Funky Hand Product though or you won't have any chance of winning a prize!
Thanks for looking - it'll be Debs along next with her Autumnal project for your delight and delectation, so pop by on the 21st to see what she's got in store for you!

Happy Crafting

Kathy

Autumn Time at Funky Hand

Morning all it's the 15th (where are the months going? Who's stealing them thats what I want to know) and that means time for a new Get Funky theme!! It's my first time hosting the challenge so please be gentle with me lol. Well done to the winner of Jenny's Birthday Fun challenge, hope you have fun with your prize.

Here in Scotland the weather (as always) has been lousy but we are seeing some really beautiful changes in the trees, there have been some really gorgeous coloured leaves blowing around in the wind. So with that in mind I have chosen Autumn as this month's theme, make of that whatever you will. Autumn colours, Autumn images, Halloween, whatever you like as long as I can see something Autumnal in there I'll be a happy wee panda!!

My card uses this month's Funky Freebie and the tree image is from the Craft the Year Away cd. Flowers, ribbon etc all from my crafty stash.

As most of you will know our only real rule here at Get Funky is that you need to use at least one Funky Hand item on your crafty creation. Anice very kindly makes us all a Funky Freebie download so even if you don't have any Funky Hand items in your crafty stash you can still join in the Get Funky fun :o) This month Anice has made the scrummiest Autumn themed paper for you to download here.

So to be in with the chance of winning the Funky Hand download of your choice click on the blue frog with the link to your blog post. Have fun and can't wait to hop on by and see what you've made.

Hugs

Happy Birthday - Paula's Turn

Hi Funky Hand fans

Thanks for coming back to read this post.  I'm all excited about this challenge as it's a nice and easy one -after all, don't we all make loads of Birthday cards as crafters?

The very lovely and talented Jenny started this months challenge off HERE to co-incide with the launch of the very latest of the Funky Hand Papercraft Factory CD's aptly named 'HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY' - in the meantime, the design team has been entertaining our eyes and stirring up our crafting juices with their fabulous projects - wow, and aren't there are some corkers this month?  Well for me, I've just played it safe and done a couple of cards for you.  I was on too much of a roll to stop at just the one though - and truth be known, I didn't stop at two either!!! ;o)

Here is the first one i've brought for you:

This might look like I followed a sketch - but truth is, I was at this layout for ages - and wish I had have followed one, but I was really happy with how it turned out.  This is nice, pink and girly and suitable for a girly girl young or old and used papers from the Birthday Girl collection.

The next one is quite bold in contrast to the first one using papers mostly from the Birthday Gal collection.  This is the front of the card which is a square gatefold:

and a peek inside the card:

I won't show you all of the cards I did, but I do want to share a secret with you.    I have used scraps on all of the cards I made and haven't purposely printed anything off for these two cards (although I had pre-planned the sentiment on the second card above).  You see, when I first got the CD, I had been having printer problems, so my sister kindly lent me her spare one until I got sorted again.  Just incase, I thought I would print off a few of the design papers.  I'd also printed loads of the digi stamps off (as you do) - so I currently have quite a boxful of those - but those corners are another thing.  I became a bit addicted to them so printed them out in other colours by shrinking the design papers on the workspace... those corners make such a difference to a card... give it a try - try your design with, then without a corner - you don't even need to do all four - and you'll soon see what your card was missing.

If you want to create a mirror image of the corners so they look OK in all four (not being symetrical, they may look a bit odd), some people might be able to print out in mirror image by setting this up in your print management instructions.  However, Canon printers don't have this facility (well mine doesn't anyway), so instead you have to tell the printer you are printing on Tee-shirt transfer paper - (which needs to be printed in mirror image) - and thats the way to get round it.  If you want any of the images printed out in a mirror image for what ever reason - just select tee-shirt transfer paper in the drop down menu (rather than plain paper or photo paper - whatever you print on regularly).

I must admit to liking somewhat of a clean and simple (CAS) card - which is really difficult to do sometimes - what with the luscious scrummy papers that Anice brings us - however, used in a certain way - you can achieve the look and full injection of colour and still indulge in a bit of CAS.  Well I believe so anyhow.  What do you think?  I'll be displaying some of the other cards on my blog in the next couple of days.

If you haven't taken the plunge so far, or haven't got anything by 'Funky Hand' to be able to join in, go HERE where you will find a very generous freebie from Anice, the designer of all the Funky Hand CD's and papers.  There are only 2 more days in which to be able to obtain the freebie - and also to join in so hurry if you don't want to miss out.  You must have entered your card before midnight on the 14th October because on the 15th, another challenge is will start.

Remember - at least ONE element/item in your project must be from Funky Hand.  If there isn't, then unforunately (and this is quite sad) - you won't be considered a contender for the prize - winners are announced on the morning of the 15th - just before the launch of the brand new challenge for the month.

Well, I think that's it from me for another month, so thanks for reading - and for all the entries made so far.

Happy crafting

Paula x x x

P.S.  Look out for more shows coming up on Create and Craft with Anice and the Happy Happy Birthday CD  - Saturday 22nd October at 11am and 4pm or check Anice's blog for details just in case these times change.

Happy, Happy Birthday

Hi Everyone

Katina here with my share for the challenge that Jenny has set this month
.. .. but I am having a few problems with my internet connection (it has decided to stop working) and I have had to get my funky teamies to get my post up here for me!!

The theme for Jenny's challenge is

"Happy, Happy Birthday"

which fits in nicely with the release of Anice's new CD .. .. .. which is also called

I used one of the fun images from the CD for the monster along with the number 6
.. .. and the lovely bunting template.
So many fabulous elements on one CD that it is hard to choose what to work with.

We have had lots of fantastic entries into the challenge already this month .. .. but it would be lovely to see some more too!!  The challenge runs until the 14th October so there are still a few more days to put an entry in.  You might end up as the winner of a free download of your choice!!!  How good would that be?

The only rules are that you have to follow Jenny's theme and use at least one Funky Hand product on your creation .. .. and if you don't have one then Anice has provided a lovely Funky Freebie that you can use you can find it on her website www.funkyhand.com

Hopefully my internet will be up and running soon so that I can see what you create.

Have fun creating .. .. ...
Love Katina

Happy Happy Sixth Birthday!

Even though the weather here in the UK is decidedly horrid (such a change from last weeks glorious sunshine!) I hope that I can bring a little warmth and sunshine with this card!

As you know, Jenny set the challenge for this this month with a theme of

Happy Happy Birthday

All the papers and elements are from the fantastic new Happy Happy Birthday cd - the only bits I've contributed is the faux stitching around the edge of the card, Promarkers to colour the monster and balloon (and his wobbly eyes) and a bit of cutting and gluing. Easy peasy!

And its equally as easy peasy to join in! Simply follow the theme and use at least one Funky Hand product in your creation - and if you've not got anything (why not?!) you can snag the free download that works with the theme each month - you can find them HERE and they change with each new challenge so get it whilst you can!

There is still time to get your creation linked up below - challenge ends on 14 October, and if I was not on the DT I'd be entering!!

Good luck!

Happy Happy birthday

Hi there, it's Jackie here again to show you what  I've come up with. I've made several different cards already using the new cd and I love, love, love it. I have had difficulty deciding which card to showcase on here and I have decided to completely lower the tone of the blog ;))
My super talented team mate Jenny set the challenge this month and this is her remit
"Jenny here and I have a 'Get Funky' challenge for you!  Every month on the 'funky fifteenth' we set you all a brand new challenge for the month and this time it is...

Birthday Fun!!!"
It also ties in with the release of Funky Hand's newest addition to the Papercraft Factory set of cds "Happy Happy Birthday"
So here we go, my card!
Tee hee, I could think of loads of people I could send this card to :)

We look forward to seeing what you come up with but don't forget to add your name to the little blue frog and please make sure you use a Funky Hand product. If you don't have anything, our fab boss, Anice has made a freebie paper which can be downloaded from here
Good luck!

Wish upon a star!

Hello from a rather chilly Amanda! :(

While England is having some lovely weather we in Scotland are having rain and cold! Oh well more cosy crafting time for me. This months Get Funky Challenge was set by the fabulous Jenny and it is Birthday Fun!

My card was made with the gorgeous star template from the new Happy Happy Birthday cd. The paper is from the pressie time collection which I have to admit is one of my faves. Isn't this wee fairy (also from the cd) just the cutest? I fell in love with her straight away.

Our only 2 stipulations on this challenge blog are that you follow the challenge and that you use at least one Funky Hand item. As always Anice has made us another gorgeous freebie paper, which you can download here, so even if you haven't had the chance to try any of the fabby Funky Hand gorgeousness you can still enter :o)

Add the link to your card to the wee blue frog to enter

have fun
