BOYS, BOYS, BOYS... Paula's Turn

Hi Funky Hand Fans

Hope you are enjoying the weather we've been having these past few days - and oops to those who haven't had it so good - I've not checked the weather forecast so hope you get it better soon!!!

Right, on the Funky Fifteenth, our Ruth kicked off this months challenge with the theme

'Boys, Boys, Boys
(See Ruth's original post here).  In addition, you were provided with this wonderful freebie:

to enable all those who don't own anything by Funky Hand (where have you been?) to join in.

Here is my offering this month - which incorporates one of my two boys' favourite colours - orange!

The football boots are digi stamps - from the 'Craft the Year Away' CD, the strips of black are from a patterned paper from the 'Darkness Lifts' collection on the 'Dreams Come True' CD, and finally the blue checked pattern is from the 'Jovial Man' collection from the 'Colour Me Happy' CD.  All the strips were cut using my guillotine cutter.  The sentiment was generated in the workspace area of the Papercraft Factory programme using the 'Impact Label' font.

I cut the circles out using a small circle cutter tool - being careful to use it with my glass cutting mat.

The football boots were printed out on a sheet which had already been printed with a different shade of orange design paper - from the 'Orange October' collection from 'Craft the Year Away' CD - although you may not be able to tell that much; I then went over parts of the pattern with a blue promarker then added black embroidering cotton for the black bootlaces.

To construct my card, I placed the coloured strips down first on my 8"x8" card blank, next I placed the orange, larger circle down - which I'd already matted with the smaller blue circle.  The black 'laces' were fastened at the back of the smaller circle, then stuck down individually so they weren't swinging around!

I hope you enjoyed my card and it has inspired even more of you to join in this month's challenge brilliantly kicked off by Ruth on the 15th.

If you have a card to enter into the challenge - please use the inlinkz facility at the bottom of each post this month.  Please remember though, if you wish to take part - you must use at least ONE element from Funky Hand in your card - be it the design paper - from a CD, a download - or using a freebie supplied in the past - or even from this month or a digistamp.  If possible - please mention in your post where abouts (i.e. which CD etc) you got your paper/digi from.

Most of all, thank you for reading my DT post - and hope that you can join in if you haven't already - and if you have - good luck!!!

If you already have Colour Me Happy you will love the freebie as it co-ordinates perfectly with the Jovial Man colourway so its a lovely added treat!!!yey!!! I really didn't have to add too much more to the page other than a bit of Little Mo writing on the top circle, a bit of stitching, faux and real!!! and some of the gorgeous buttons left in my September Song buttons stash from the Funky Hand shop.

There's still oodles of time left for you to get your thinking caps on and get creating for those men in your life, USING AT LEAST ONE FUNKY HAND PRODUCT PLEASE

BOYS, BOYS, BOYS BY JULES

Good morning everyone

Jules here to show you the creation  I made to fit in with my lovely teamie Ruth's theme of

BOYS, BOYS, BOYS

Just for a change I decided not to go with a card .. ..
but a little wallet which will be given away when a suitable birthday comes along.

To make this little birthday wallet I used the free paper that Anice very kindly provided for us this month
and design papers from the "Jovial Man" section of the Papercraft Factory CD "Colour me Happy".

I hot glued two buttons on top of each other to form the peg for the elastic to wrap around
and had lots of fun with my sewing machine to create this.

Unfortunately Anice does not provide a download for producing the lovely £5 notes .. .. shame :-(
.. .. I just had to earn those!!

Plus there are still plenty of other pockets in the little wallet for gift cards or a greeting tag.

It would be lovely to see you playing along with Ruth's challenge .. ..
all you need to do is follow the theme and include at least one Funky product.

You can always use the freebie if you don't own any yet!!!

So that is me .. .. I hope you liked my little make.

Another Funky playmate will be along in a few days with her lovely share.

Love Jules xx

A robot for my nephew

Morning all and welcome to my (Amanda) turn to show my card for Ruth's Boys Boys Boys theme. My nephew was 3 a week ago and I made this card for him with the Craft the Year Away CD. (The papers are September Song) This wee robot on the cd is my absolute fave, he's just too cute! The word are also made using the cd. A few buttons and gems from my stash and it's all done.

As always the only rule we have for you here is that you must use at least one Funky Hand item in your creation. This months freebie is available here and is a cracker and so funky with the arrows. Also at the Funky Hand website there are gorgeous collections of downloads which, if you're impatient like me, means you don't have to wait for the postie.....instant gratification!!
Add your entry to the blue frog to be in with a chance to win :o)

Key of the door!

Today is my (Jackie's) turn to showcase my project and yet again I've been a bit boring and just made a card!

This month our hostess with the mostest is Ruth. The challenge theme is called BOYS, BOYS and she would like us to make anything as long as it is 'male' related. It is a requirement for you to use at least one product from the Funky Hand catalogue but just incase you don't have anything yet Anice has provided another fabulous freebie paper which can be found in the download section of the Funky Hand web site and if you haven't got any of the fab products, you don't know what you are missing! The cds and downloads are the most amazing value and there is something to suit every taste.
Anice has borrowed the 'Jovial Man' colour collection from Colour Me Happy

So, now for my card
I have some large letters and numbers which I have from when I was a teaching assistant and find they are great for my papercrafting especially age related cards. This was a quickie as I needed it in a hurry, I also plan on using the download to make an 18th birthday card too. The photo hasn't picked up the shine on the Cool Dude plaque. I covered it in Glossy Accents and it has given it the appearance of a page pebble.

I hope you enjoy playing along with our little challenge this month, I can't wait to see what you do with the download.

Thanks for looking and happy crafting :)

Edited to add that I have just added a tutorial to my blog to show how you can make your own large numbers.

New Funky Challenge - Boys Boys Boys!

It's the fifteenth of the month so its time for a new Get Funky challenge! And I (Ruth) am your hostess for this month and I have picked the theme of:

Boys, Boys, Boys!

So anything male related be it for the little or big boys in your life! Please remember that you need to use at least one Funky Hand product in your creation but if you don't have anything, don't worry as Anice has designed another freebie that you can find on the download section of the website which fits perfectly with the challenge theme! So no excuses!

Both my boys have their Birthday's in early September and this year I WILL be organised as I've made their cards for this challenge!

As I really enjoy making word books I thought this would be perfect - Samuel's has been made with papers from Funky Daze (bargain at £7.99!) and I've created the letters by using wordart, double layered them and added to the pages. The little stars are from a punch and I've added a faux stitch around the letters for definition.

Jacobs has been made in the same way but with papers from Now That's Funky (another bargain at £7.99!) and I've added some stars from the freebie download. I printed the sheet to fit twice onto A4 so that the stars were small enough to use over the letters. The stars have had the glossy accents treatment too!

I found the raffia in my cupboard when looking for something else - I knew when I bought it that it would come in handy one day!

Now I just need to keep them in a safe place until September. And what's the odds that I forget where I've left them?!

Good luck with the challenge! You have until midnight GMT on 14 August to enter and please remember to use a Funky Hand product and to link directly to your blog post via the blue frog below!

Another Funkette will be along in a few days for more inspiration!
