Happy Royal Wedding Day

Hellooooo and welcome on this fine Royal Wedding Friday to the next card for Deb's Spots and Stripes Challenge. Now I could say I made this card with the Royal Wedding in mind but to be honest I had a wedding card to make and when I sat down to write this post I realised it was apt LOL
My spots are the Rainbow Polkadots Download which I have to admit I am LOVING the colours are fabby. The stripes were made with my scoring tool and score board and they don't show up so well in the photo. They are quite subtle (not something said in relation to me very often haha) but I like them.
A Love sentiment and a few sticky pearls and it was done, nice and simple :o)
For anyone not familiar with the Get Funky Challenge there are only two rules.......
1. Have at least one Funky Hand product on your item. To make the challenges easy for everyone to enter Anice designs a new paper freebie for each challenge, it's here or why not treat yourself over at Funky Hand there are loads of gorgeous paper downloads and of course the fabulous craft cds too.
2. Have fun!!
So come and join in the funky fun!!

A little late for an important date...

Hi Funky Hand Fans! Jenny here! I know, I know it's now AFTER Easter! A little mix-up with my dates has meant that my card for this months Spots & Stripes Challenge is a little bit 'after the fact'. However, rather than show you something else, I really wanted to show you how versatile the wobble card template on Craft The Year Away really is! The wobbly nest was super easy to make with strips of brown patterned paper glued randomly onto the wobble card blank. All that was needed then was some of the super cute Easter Eggs, also from Craft The Year Away, to pop in the nest. The little sentiment flag is made with half a cocktail stick & by using the writer word generator in Papercraft Factory. A little bow & some Glossy Accents on the spots & stripes on the eggs add the finishing touches.

There's plenty more Egg-cellent (groan!) inspiration coming your way from the Design Team over the next few weeks so keep checking back in every few days for fun new projects!

Spots and Stripes - The Best of British!

Hello everyone, it's Paula here.

I'd just like to start by thanking you for joining me on Funky Hand's challenge blog today and also to wish all our Funky Hand readers a very Happy Easter Monday.

Well, it's my turn to share with you what i've been up to with this months challenge that our Debs kicked off on the Funky Fifteenth of April with her beautiful card. Go here if you want to check it out again.

This months challenge of 'Spots and Stripes' has been one of my favourite to date, especially as Debs quite rightly pointed out that Anice has created a fabulous paper collection of rainbow polka dots recently (oh, and remember that until 10pm on Easter Monday, there is 25% to take off the price of this very collection).

The polka dots collection perfectly matches with the feebie

that Anice has kindly provided for you to use - and which our Ruth used when she made her gorgeous set of matching cards which can be seen in the last post.

I decided to go for something that two of the colours in the new polka dot collection particularly conjoured up for me when i saw them together - and particularly as feels a bit topical this week, with rumour of a special event happening towards the end of it!

I made my card into a Birthday card instead - but all things patriotic and the fabulous polka dot selection definitely inspired me.

I have attached the sentiment (on stripes) to acetate which I made slightly larger than A5 so that I could fasten it around the back of the card. This is because I didn't want to attach it to the actual card because it would have detracted from the corner of the flag - and I thought attaching it to the acetate made it look like it was floating.

Here's a pic of the inside of the card

The white square blank bit is where you would write your message.

Here is the back of the card:

I added a strip of the red stripe (from another card i'd done) to hide where i'd attached the acetate just to finish it off at the back.

I thought making a Union Jack would be much easier than it was - but then realised that making a rectangular shaped flag go onto a 6x6 square card was never gonna happen!!! Therefore, my card is actually now A5 in size. I had to mock on up by doing a template in Microsoft Publisher - so that I could cut each component of it up in order to make individual templates for all the dotty bits of paper.

While I was working on this project, my son's friend said "are you copying the picture on your kitchen mat Paula?"...(erm, no) - then the penny dropped... that's where i'd seen it before! I have a glass kitchen cutting mat that has a retro Union Jack on - the cross is a polka dot pattern - and believe it or not, I hadn't realised until Andy had said (doh)! I only 'see' it every day! Amazing what you look at without actually 'seeing' it or noticing it huh?

Anyway - with the Royal Wedding taking end at the end of this week, and having just had St. George's day - I'm feeling suitably patriotic.

If you feel inspired by this or any other card that your fabulous DT has brought to you this month - upload an image of your card by clicking on the blue frog at the end of this post.

Good luck if you do, but remember to make sure your creation has at LEAST ONE FUNKY HAND PRODUCT in it to qualify - if you ever think you have uploaded by mistake - just let the team know. Also - as a help to the design team when coming to view your blog, please could you mention which Funky Hand product you've included in your creation - and which CD or downloadable it was from - or just mention that you used the freebie.

Watch this space for more fabulous DT creations which will be posted right up until the new challenge is brought to you on the Funky Fifteenth - of May!!!!

Using The Funky Freebie!

Yes its me again! Just popping by to show you what you can make with this challenge's Funky Freebie! If you go to the download section on the Funky Hand website, you can download free of charge this fab rainbow stripey paper!

I've printed it to fit 9 times on a sheet of A4 and then used my Nesties to cut out the patterned shape and then layered onto a slightly larger shape and then onto the card blank.

These cards are quite diddy - 9cm square so I can get 3 from a sheet of A4 card. I've added gems either horizontally or vertically depending on the stripey pattern.

And although you can't tell, I've added a dotted line round the larger white layer with a gel pen the same colour as the gems.

Good luck with the challenge - please remember to follow the theme and to use a Funky Hand product in your creation and link your creation via the blue frog below! The challenge ends on 14 May when the new theme is set on the 15 May. The winner receives a Funky Hand download of their choice and the top three get a blinkie!

You won't see me again until the next challenge, but there are plenty of other stunning creations coming your way this month!

Spots and Stripes - Windmills!

Welcome to my version of the current Get Funky challenge for Spots and Stripes! I've used the Craft The Year Away cd and printed spots on one side of the thin card and stripes on the other - there is always a spots and stripes in each of Anice's collections!!

I've used Kebab sticks and brads from my stash along with grosgrain ribbon to pretty the backs up! And amazingly, the brads and ribbon matched the green of the papers!

I've used a template for the three windmill layers - I got it ages ago from Lakeland when they still sold craft stash, but if you google windmill templates there are probably many to choose from!
Don't forget that you need to follow the challenge theme, which is spots and stripes, and also use a Funky Hand product. We make this last part really easy as Anice offers each month a freebie download that fits the challenge - just go to the download section on the website to snag it! The winner from the challenge will get a download of their choice and the top three a blinkie!

Good luck - and please enter via the blue frog below!

April Showers

Morning Lovely People! It's Sunday today, wooohooo! I hope you have plans for a day filled with crafting? I mean, you'll need to make something with Spots and Stripes, if you've not already, so you can join in with the Get Funky Fun...

Don't forget you need to use a Funky Hand product on your makes, but don't worry if you don't have any, as Anice has created this gorgeous freebie for you to play with:

Be sure to snag it here, as it's only available until 14 May. :)

I love the rainbow colours in this paper and it made me think of the weather, so this is what I came up with. My spots are 'hidden' because I wanted the paper to do all the talking. Or should that be singing 'Somewhere over the rainbow'? (I dare you to try and not sing that all day now!) The image is from the Craft The Year Away CD Rom, which is absolutely crammed with images and scrummy papers to use. Not got it yet? Oh, you need it!

Right, I'm off for some breakfast, is it too early for a cupcake?

It has been a really good theme and I am sure you have enjoyed all of the inspiration provided by my lovely funkette teamies  .. ..
they have definitely been bringing lots of zing and inspiration to the challenge.

We hope you enjoy seeing our projects pop up here every couple of days
as much as we enjoy posting them.

I am here to "bring up the rear" ahead of a new challenge starting on the Funky Fifteenth.

Here is my Zingy Springy make:

This was made using one of the original Funky Hand CD's
"Funky Seasons".
You can see it in the store here.

The colours were so bright and beautiful in this paper collection that I decided to make my own lime green card base .. .. sorry if it is all a bit bright first thing in the morning LOL!!!

So a new challenge starts on the 15th April .. ..
but that still gives you all of today and tomorrow to enter the challenge.

You need to use a Funky Hand paper or extra on your creation .. .. but if you don't have any at the moment then there is a freebie available on the side bar.

Who knows you could win the download prize and then own even more papers.

All of the downloads are gorgeous so it is a prize that is well worth winning.

Thank you to everyone who has entered so far.

Don't forget to check back on the 15th to see if Lou picked you as her winner
or whether you have been awarded one of the Get Funky! Blinkies.

Thank you for calling by.

Love Jules xx

Springy Spring

My turn to post seems to have come around very quickly. It doesn't seem five minutes since I was doing the write up for the last challenge! I think someone somewhere is secretly stealing my days!!! The Funky Fifteenth challenge over on the Get Funky blog was chosen, this month by Lou and she chose Zing Into Spring as her challenge. She would love to see your projects (it doesn't just have to be a card) using funky spring colours of greens, yellows and lilacs but please remember that you need to use a Funky Hand paper on your entry. If you don't already own any of Anice's fabulous creations (shame on you :)) then she has created another free sheet for you to use, available here.

And here is my offering!
Sorry about the photo, I just couldn't get one without the flower casting a shadow over the rest of the card.
I thought I would have a 'springy' flower on my card for a change so I started by printing the floral paper off in three different sizes...A4, A5 and A6. I cut out a complete flower from each of the sheets plus a couple of daisies from the A4 sheet. I edged all the flowers with diamond Stickles and once they were dry I layered the flowers on top of each other and fastened them together onto a strip of acetate measuring approximately 10 cm by 1 cm.
I used the spare daisy to cover the legs of the brad at the back of the flower.
Crease the acetate approximately 2 cm from the end and fold and adhere the folded edge behind your chosen backing paper at the top of the card. Cut a strip of the floral paper from the A5 sheet, cut green flowers from the rest of the sheet and stick onto the flowers on the paper. Dot the centres with Stickles to finish.

I hope you are enjoying our challenges and that you have the time to join us. Don't forget to check out the work which has been produced by my fabulous team mates.

Thanks for looking
Jackie

More Zinging into Spring!!

Morning all, Amanda here! Welcome to the last week of Lou's Zing into Spring Challenge. Haven't the other Funkettes cards been simply divine? I have loved seeing them all.

This week I saw my first daffodils in the garden, I know some of you might have had yours out for a while but we're a bit slower here in the Highlands :o)

So feeling all springlike certainly helped me with my card for this month's challenge. For my card I used the Craft the Year Away cd and the Our Betty Stamp and a few bits n bobs from my stash.

Please remember that to qualify for the challenge you have to use at least one Funky Hand product, there are soooo many lush papers available to buy on cd or download at the Funky Hand website and the fabby Anice has even designed a totally scrummy freebie paper available here.

Our Zingy challenge ends on 14 April so what are you waiting for come and join us and Zing into Spring.

Zingy Springy Card & Tag!

Hello Funky Hand Fans!  I see from the entries we've had so far that you're all enjoying this months Zing Into Spring challenge!  Not played along yet?  Then see all the details & how to enter here.  Remember to use at least one Funky Hand element - that can be a paper, digi stamp or Betty Stamp and be sure to make your card zingy and springy! Need a little help getting started?  Well make sure you head on over here and get your hands on this months Freebie Download

So on to my take on the challenge...

As you can see a card and a gift tag from me this month!  Made with a combination of the super duper Rainbow Polkadots papers and some cut out flowers from the 'Just Happy' and 'Sticky Lemons' paper collections on Dreams Come True.

The flowers are popped up on 3d foam pads for dimension and I've added some zingy bling to their centres. The tag is a chipboard one from my stash and has 3d foam on the back ready to be added to a gift. Simple but Funky!

Make sure you pop back in here over the next week as there's still more inspiration to come from four more of the Get Funky! Team...I've had a sneak peek and it's well worth popping back in!

Happy Zingy Springy Crafting!
