Spring Celebrations on Easter Sunday

Happy Easter to you all.  I hope that you are all stocked up with plenty of chocolate eggs and have people that you love around you.

It's my turn, Anice, to give you a little inspiration for a card to Celebrate Spring, which is this months Get Funky Challenge.  I decided to make a bit of a grungy looking card to show you that all creations are welcome here!

All the backing papers used on the card are from our latest Funky Hand download release Spring Has Sprung  if you are reading this before 10pm on Monday 9th April pop over to my website www.funkyhand.com and you will be able to buy it at a discount price as we have a big Easter SALE on.  If not..it will still be there to buy just at the normal price which is only £3.19 anyway!!

I decided that I wanted to make a bit of a grungy roughed up looking card this month so I ripped up the backing papers and added them to the white 6" square base card leaving a bit of a gap between them.  I kept hold of the left over torn edges as you can see I added them to the card after more distressing.

You can probably see that I didn't stick all of the card down, just in the middle so that the ends stand off the card in an untidy, uneven way..that's just the effect I wanted for this card.

The main focus of the card is a flower that I cut with a Sizzix die I have had for years and years.  I have an original red sizzix machine that my Mom bought me as Christmas present when I started crafting six odd years ago.  I have to admit to not having any of the new fangled cutters or machines so it's harder and harder to get orginal Sizzix dies.  This one is called Flower Daisy #3. I cut the stem from the left over green printed backing paper that I had, and a full daisy flower from white card. The half flower was cut from a scrap of the spotted paper used at the bottom of the card. I decided that I wanted my flower not to be flat and tidy so in the grungy feel of the card I bent up the petals and leaves, inked their edges and doodled in Sakura Black glaze pen on the stem and the flower petals.  Here's a closer look..

It's not a neat, particularly pretty card but I was pleased with the effect in the end as I wanted to use the pretty pastel coloured papers from the Spring Has Sprung download collection but show that they can be used in a different way than pretty as well.  I hope you like my idea.

Now it's your turn to give the challenge a go and join in with us.  The winning entry will get a prize of any of my Funky Hand download collections.  You can choose which ever one you like.  There is only one rule on the Get Funky Challenge blog and that is that you use at least ONE Funky Hand product on your entry.  I make it pretty easy each month by offering a Funky Freebie backing paper on my website www.funkyhand.com that is changed each month so you can join in even if you don't have any Funky Hand stash just yet.

This months challenge ends on the 14th April so you still have a bit of time to get your entries in, it doesn't have to be a card it can be any sort of crafty creation, an ATC,some altered art anything at all.  We'd love to see what you create and visit you blogs.

Looking forward to seeing what you create.
