Zing into Spring!

Morning! Now, I know that's not the punchiest of Blog Post Titles, but I'm far too excited to think of anything more interesting at this point! This is my very first post and I am VERY happy to join you.

I hope the slightly better weather is making you feel more springlike? And if not, you're in the right place as we're absolutely crammed full of it here. Lou's Zing into Spring Challenge closes on 14 April, but you still have loads of time to enter. Remember you'll need to use something Funky on your creations, but don't worry if you don't have any, because Anice is giving away this fab download. Grab it before this challenge closes!

Anyway, I absolutely love the Rainbow Polkadots download as much as this gorgeous paper, so putting the two together was a no brainer for me. Ok, so making the two work together caused me to scratch my head (I'm lying, I was scoffing choklit) somewhat, but I was determined!

I cut out one of the mahoosive flowers, gave it a liberal dose of glitter and mounted it onto some card I embossed with polkadots to match the dotty paper. A good rummage in my stash gave me a button and some ribbon and job done!

Well, I hope you have time to join in with us this month, the link is below. Don't forget to stop by in a few days for more zingy, springy inspiration...Faye. x

Betty Is Zinging Into Spring!

It's my turn (Ruth) to zing into spring! Hope you are enjoying the creations of the Funky Hand Design Team for Lou's theme for the month! Don't forget that you have until 14 April to enter this challenge and then a brand new one launches on the 15 April!

Each month you will be able to download a freebie to use in your creation that also fits the theme - how easy can we make it for you to enter the challenges?!

As always, we do ask that you use a Funky Hand product in your creation, and with the freebie on offer, how can you refuse?! Just go to the download section on the website and you'll find that months freebie. But be quick - they are only there for that month!

Anyway! I've used an Our Betty stamp for my card, coloured her with Promarkers and a little liquid pearls. I've added glossy accents to the ribbon on the gift and that has been added to the card with foam pads to give it some dimension (and to show just how big it is!)

The sentiment is from the same Betty stamp set, and I've used papers from the new Rainbow Polkadots download plus the flowers are from the Funky Freebie for this month.

Hope you can join in with the challenge - please link up with the blue frog below. Good luck!

Mini Zingy Springy cards

It's my turn (Jane) to share my Project for this Month's Get Funky Challenge. The theme set by the lovely Lou is Zing Into Spring and you can see her wonderful card here. I have made a little bag to hold 5 mini cards. The cards measure 3x3 inches so are really dinky and cute and I had lots of fun decorating them.

I was hugely inspired by the gorgeous springy freebie HERE that Anice created to enable any of you that don't have any springy coloured Funky Hand papers to play along as you do need to use a Funky Hand paper on your entry. The papers match the March colour theme on the Craft the Year away CD so I used lots of these on my Project too.

To make the bag, I used my Nesties to cut two squares measuring 9cmx9cm from white card. I then cut a strip of card measuring 27cm x 7cm, scored 1cm in along the long edges and then every 9cm to make the three sides of the box cutting notches where the score lines intersect to allow it to fold together. Glue the sides to the box and the decorate each side with more Nestie shapes cut from patterned paper and cover the sides with strips of paper measuring 9x5cm. Punch holes in the sides of the box to thread a ribbon handle through and then decorate with flowers.

I decorated each card with more Nesties squares and scalloped squares cut from different papers from the Craft The Year Away CD. I was able to print out all of the images, sentiments and the most of the papers in a smaller format on one page by using the workspace feature. Some of the images were printed directly onto the papers others were cut out and mounted with foam pads. I added lots of glitter, glossy accents and gems to finish the cards off.
I hope you will be able to join in with this Month's Challenge, Ruth will be back in a couple of days with more inspiration!
Have a great Friday!

Deb's Turn to Zing into Spring

Good morning - it's my turn to share with you my card for Lou's Zing Into Spring challenge here at Get Funky this  month.
I have used the gorgeous Freebie DP that Anice is offering this month - go grab yours from here - it's perfect for this challenge!
I also used some co-ordinating DP's from the 'Marching On' range on the Craft the Year Away Papercraft CD rom - available here to create my concertina flower and punched butterflies.
The fab 'tape' sentiment has also been done using the Craft the Year Away CD.

To create the flower I used a strip of Design Paper - 29cm x 3cm and score at 1cm intervals all along the length. Then mountain and valley fold (concertina fold) and secure the ends together to form a circle. Put a small 'blob' of glue where you would like to adhere your flower and 'squish'the circle down onto the glue. I added a 1" punched circle with a co-ordinating button to the centre to finish it off.
A touch of Diamond Stickles has been added to bring it to life and that's it done!
Hope you can join in the funky fun with us - you have until 14th April so still lots of time.
Look out for Jane's fab project on the 25th.
Have a great day.

Kathy's Turn!

Hi, it's me (Kathy) here with my card for Lou's Funky 15th Zingy Spring challenge.

I love the dots/stars/hearts templates on the Craft the Year Away CD - I've used the dots option as the starting point for this card.
First you need to choose your paper - I'm using the Marching On collection here as it is the perfect match for this month's Funky Freebie. Click the "send" button then click the workspace tab.  Select "Templates" and choose the 4x4 dots, then  click the print button - remember you'#ll need to print directly onto a sheet of A4 card.
Instead of using the printed guidelines cut your card leaving about 1.5cm .on all but the fold line.  Use narrow strips of one of the plain designs to conceal the guidelines and frame the dotty pattern.

Print a few small pieces of more papers from the collection - remember you can resize them on the workspace to fit several on one sheet of paper and print all together,  use a small square punch to cut lots of little squares for a mosaic border

For the flower I printed the March Funky Freebie in 3 sizes.  The largest size is half an A4 sheet, the 2nd is half that and the third is about half again,
I cut out 2 flower shapes from the largest size and one from each of the other two,  I used a bone folder to shape the petals.
Once the wide ric-rac braid was glued in position I adhered each petal in place then added a button to the centre.
To finish I used a rub-on sentiment and finally covered the button with turquoise Stickles.

That was that, but I was on a roll using these wonderful papers, so I made a couple more cards using the same set of papers while I was at it!  They really are fab colours and I adore the way this month's freebie works with them.

We're really hoping you'll join in with us this month, and maybe win our Funky Prize.  Just remember to read Lou's original post for this challenge - and whatever you do don't forget to use at least one Funky Hand product - your project won't qualify for the prize if there's nothing Funky on it !

Debs will be along on 22nd March with more Funky Spring Zing

Getting some 'Zing' into a Mothers day card!

Well Hello! It's Anice here and it's my turn to share with you my Zing into Spring card entry..I have to admit I was a little concerned that my card wasn't 'zingy' enough but I think Spring is about lots of things and I thought well, it's about new beginnings as well so who needs thanking more than your Mom for your new beginning? So I've gone for this Mothers day card..

This card was created using papers, a digital image and the sentiment writer from my latest craft CD ROM Craft the Year Away. Oh and some truly wonderful inch wide ribbon from my stash! Thank goodness for our craft stashes eh? We buy all these wonderful items because they catch our eye but then can't bring ourselves to use them because they are 'too nice'..now don't kid me..you do it, we all do!! (I have a ridiculously large brad collection.. really large and then I scratch around for a brad at times because the others 'are too good to use'! Oh, who knows maybe it's just me..but I don't think so! HeHe!)

I'm not giving you huge details about how I made this card because I plan to make a video tutorial, for on my website, using this card so keep your eyes here and on my blog and I'll let you know when you can get a closer look at how I created this card.

I hope you are being inspired to join our Get Funky! Challenge this month. Just a little reminder, to enter all you need to do is follow the challenge set and include at least one Funky Hand paper, digi stamp or Our Betty stamp on it.  Now, if you don't have any Funky Hand stash yet don't think you can't join in..just go to my website www.funkyhand.com and in the download section you will find a freebie Funky Hand paper that will work perfectly for this months challenge theme. I change the freebie paper each month so everyone can join in each month even if they haven't got into Funky Hand stuff yet.

We will be coming back in a couple of days with some more inspiration for you so don't forget to pop by and take a look.  More importantly though we want you to get involved, have fun, join in! The Winner each month can choose a Funky Hand download collection as their prize and gets a winners Blinkie for their blog and our runners up all get blinkies for their blogs.  So the next time you are sat at your craft desk..think about getting Zingy for Spring the Funky Hand way!

Funky Fifteenth- Zing Into Spring!!!

Good Morning Peeps!!!

Well, I can't believe it but we are into March already and the Funky Fifteenth is upon us already!!! huge thank you's to all of you for sharing  your gorgeous creations with the funkette's, they have all been so delicious, please check Jules's post below to see if you are a funky winner!!!!

Now onto this months Funky Fifteenth challenge which is........

Zing Into Spring.

All the signs of spring are beginning to show now so....

I would love to see your creations using funky spring colours of greens, yellows and lilacs.

BUT REMEMBER .. ..
somewhere on your creation you must use a
Funky Hand paper on your entry.
And Anice has been busy creating a deliciously springy freebie HERE for any of you that are worried you can't play along with us if you don't have any springy coloured Funky Hand papers.

and so onto my little card to kick off the challenge this month.

Our very own little Betty is having her tv debut with Anice and the fabulous Craft The Year Away papercraft factory today over on the Ideal World Create & Craft channel at 10am and 2pm today so I thought I would get her all springy for you!! and here she is.....

My Betty is from the Love 'N' That stamp set.
I carefully snipped away her gorgeous box of choccies
(she didn't mind when I told her I was going to swap it for a huge
choccy easter egg all wrapped up!)

I printed straight onto my card base using my Craft The Year Away cd and inked the edges with some yummy purple chalk ink. I also printed out some of the super cute little chick stamps from the cd,cut
them out and 'fluffed'them up by embossing them!! Then using the fabby new Rainbow Polka Dots papers
I made myself some yummy looking easter eggs. I ripped a teeny hole in the one Betty is holding and squeezed a little chick in....hope she takes him out before she eats the egg...!!!!

I made the sentiment by popping the rainbow dots printed paper back into my printer and using the angelina font in the workspace to write 'Zing into spring'.
The yummy ribbon and buttons come from the Funky stash and they are both from the September song
sets.

....Phew...she didn't eat him!!!!!
Don't forget to check back here on Get Funky on the 17th to see what Anice has to share with you for her zingy springiness!!! and don't forget to tune into Create&Craft to see some funky demo's with Anice today at 10am & 2pm.

Another sheet from the download to back in inside and a few sticky pearls and voila all done!!

Please remember that to qualify for the prize you must use at least one Funky Hand item. To help you enter Anice has even designed a free download especially for this challenge, you can find it here.

Get Funky- Show Us Your heart

WOW, it's nearing the end of this month's Get Funky challenge and what super entries we have so far

It's now my turn , Allison, to share my card for Jules challenge

Show Us Your Heart

Don't forget that you must include a Funky Hand element somewhere on your creation - this could be from one of the papercrafting cd's or a download or even one of the very new Our Betty stamps! For all the details on how to enter - click HERE for Jules original post which kicked the Funky Fifteenth off.

So here is my card for this month

Now before you say anything.. yes I know the tutorial has a different design to the finished article!!I had to make a fiance Valentine card for someone at work so used the stages for the photos as I never took photos of the top card.. oops

Cut two large hearts- I used the Large sizzix heart die- infact I cut four and layered them together or if your card is thick enough then two will do and you can print double sided on the card before cutting

Take a piece of card and cut it to approx.24 cm long and 10.5cm wide, score at the left hand side about 1.5cm in

Now cover the flap and inside the card with paper( I am using papers from the Love Love Love download here)

Attach one heart to the flap with foam pad and attach the second heart to the first one

Your card is now ready for you to decorate

For the top card ,I made some flowers from a butterfly punch and printed the words With Love from the writer section in the new Craft the Year Away CD and the papers are from the February section of this CD
Hope you are having fun with this challenge and remember you still have up to the 14th to enter if you haven't already

Showing my heart(s)

We are almost at the end of the challenge month and it is my turn to add my little bit of creativity. Please be gentle with me as this is my first post for the Get Funky! blog. Jules started off the month as she is the host for February and her post can be seen here The rest of the team have posted every couple of days instead of bombarding you with all our work at the same time so we hope you have been keeping up with us :)

We have noticed that on a few of the blogs we've visited that although everyone has followed the theme to our challenge, not everyone has followed our most important requirement which is top use a Funky Hand product. Downloads and cds along with digi images can be bought from the Funky Hand website www.funkyhand.com but Anice has also designed a freebie paper which can be downloaded from the Craft Download section of the shop. No excuses not to join in!!

Here is the card I came up with

I punched three sets of flowers from the February section of the Craft The Year Away cd and fastened them together with a brad. I then cut a strip of the freebie paper (which I had printed onto card instead of paper) and cut slits in each of the hearts so I could thread my ribbon through them. The heart shaped leaves were simply cut from the left over piece of card, folded in half and attached with a thin layer of glue down the side. This is a great card for using left over papers as only smallish pieces are needed to cut out the shape.

There is still a little while left to play and all the other posts are here for you to refer back to. Thanks to Jules for a great challenge.

Take care :)

A Funky Heart Card

Hi there! I do hope you're all having a wonderful weekend?  How about adding some funkyness to it by playing along with our current challenge? You can find all the details of the 'Show Us Your Heart' challenge here.  Remember we need to see a heart on your creation and at least one Funky Hand product.  Not got anything Funky Hand?  Head on over to the Funky Hand website www.funkyhand.com and get yourself this month's lovely freebie!

So here's my little heart creation...

I just love how all of Anice's papers go so well with Kraft card!  Both the blue linen effect paper and the pink swirly paper are from the Craft the Year Away CD. I down-sized the papers to about 1/4 of an A4 sheet each (remember with Papercraft Factory you can fill up the spaces with other papers or images so there's no wasted space when printing - genius!).  The heart image was placed on top of the pink paper section while still in Papercraft Factory (so no running through the printer twice or failed attempts at getting the image in the right place! Again, genius!!).  All that was needed then was the embellishments and some hand doodling for the frame.

So that's it from me for this month...remember to check back in here in a few days time (7th March) for another inspirational heartfelt offering from Amanda. Keep those entries coming in too!

Have a funky, fun weekend!

Show Us Your Heart - Paula's Offering!

Hello funky fans, friends, followers

Right - own up... who stole February?  Where did it go?  I blinked and it was gone - and unfortunately, most of it was spent being nurse maid to my very poorly 14 year old who had blood test after blood test then ended up with a bad bout of Tonsillitis. Thank goodness, all is well now and he's back at school.

Anyway, thank you so much for stopping by to visit the blog and check out what the DT have been offering you over the last couple of weeks since Jules set us the challenge of showing our hearts.

I hope you agree with me that the DT cards have been inspirational up to now - lets hope mine makes the mark and is equally inspiring - enough for you to create something and enter it into the challenge.

Remember though, if you wish to take part in the Funky Hand Challenge - all we ask is that you use AT LEAST ONE Funky Hand paper in your design.  If you are struggling to do that, Anice (Head Honcho at FH) has designed a FREE paper especially - HERE.  While you are there - take a look at the fabulous collections that FH have to offer you.  If you start to collect the design collections, you can build up a little library of all sorts of colours and designs and you really won't ever be stuck for a paper in your future papercrafting projects.

That's me been rambling on enough, so without further ado, here is me showing you my heart.

I decided to do a little 'hangy' type project and used the download collection recently launched called 'LOVE LOVE LOVE'.  You can find the collection by clicking here.

I basically cut 6 larger hearts using scalloped nestibility hearts, then 3 smaller ones from the regular heart nesties. I then cut the characters from the same collection too. Secure the ribbon on the back of one of the large heart shapes, then make a sandwhich by placing another on the top - design side up. Repeat this as many times as you have pieces in your hanger remembering to secure the bottom 'hanging ribbon' between the top of the next heart shape (or whatever shape you are making) - then just mat and layer each one. Its much easier than it looks - the key is preparation. Cut all your elements out first, then cut all your ribbon and basically construct in a little 'production line' style! Easy Peasy! Hope you like!

The collection is fabulous if you want to get away from the usual 'mushy stuff' that's synonimous with love and valentines day!.  Its very bold, bright, and best of all, can be masculine as well as feminine.  It's really useable so go check it out.

I gave this to my Mum, just to remind her everyday that I love her - not that she doesn't know that already!  She loved it and said she was going to hang it up in her lounge.

There are still some projects to be shown to you from the DT - so remember to come back and check out.  If my memory serves me right - Jenny is scheduled to offer you her design on the 5th.  In fact there will be offerings right up until we change the challenge theme on the Funky Fifteenth so be sure to come back and check it all out.
Thanks again for sticking with me and reading down to this bit!  Good luck with the challenge (just remember that ONE Funky Hand element required to enter) and click the link below to enter your project.
