Anice is bringing the 2011 Funky Fifteenth challenges to an end with a great big
THANK YOU challenge
We all have plenty to say Thank You for don't we? We're all hoping that Father Christmas will be bringing us some lovely presents in a few days time for a start - but with Christmas and New Year just around the corner it's not a bad time of year to reflect upon other reasons to say "Thank You"too
My little set of cards has a "Thank you for the Gift" theme and I've made them in the shape of gifts.
Once I'd got started on these, they didn't take long to make and at less than 8cms square they are sooooo cute! Of course, one of the beauties of the Papercraft series of CDs is that you can make your images any size you like....
I've used the fab gift image from the "Happy Happy Birthday" CD to make these little shaped cards along with the "Blue Magic" papers from the "Dreams Come True" CD
If I'#d been more on the ball I'd have printed all the papers onto cardstock and built up the layers from that, but I wasn't, so I did more cutting and sticking than I needed to - I'll be making more of these little cards so I'll definitely be doing it that way when I do.
The two layers of the little bows are only stuck to the card under the !knot" so they stand out nicely and add a bit of dimensional interest.
If you use this idea in your own crafting, just remember to line up the bottom edges of the ribbon and card, leaving more of a "sticky-up" bit at the top - otherwise your card won't stand up!
To make the tiny tags I just printed the sentiment a few times then used a ruler and knife to cut them out. I trimmed off the angles at the top and used a needle and some fine silver thread to make the hanger - the the knot layer of the bow holds the tags on to the card and the tags themselves hang free, just like on a real parcel. The tag could just as easily say "Happy Birthday" so I'm thinking that I'll be using this idea again and again....
As always there is only ONE rule for entries. You need to use at least one Funky Hand product on yourchallenge entry. Anice makes it really easy for you every month by designing a Funky Freebie paper that you can find HEREso even if you don't have any Funky Hand products in your stash yet, you can join in.
There is a prize of your choice of any Funky Hand download collection for the winner of the challenge. The winner will be announced on the 15th January along with the brand new challenge, here on the Get Funky Blog.so there's plenty of time to get busy with those Thank You messages. There will be a new Thank You idea along every few days till then and next up it'll be Debs here on the 22nd to inspire you
Happy Christmas, Happy New Year and Happy Crafting from me!
Hello Get Funky Challengers!
Can you believe it but today is the beginning of the last Get Funky Challenge for 2011? Well it is, and I thought I would give you a bit of break from all those Christmas cards you have been making and start putting together your THANK YOU cards.
So this months challenge is a pretty simple one really, I want to see any type of card or other creation with a Thank You theme. Maybe you want to say thank you for a really great Christmas present or for a wonderful welcome over the Christmas period. But that doesn't need to be the only things you could be thankful for. Maybe you would like to tell your best friend thanks for their friendship. It really is completely up to you.
Here is my challenge card to get you started...
This card has been created with a collection of a few different items from three of my Papercraft Factory CDs. The papers are all from Colour Me Happy, the Blissful Baby Collection, the coloured digital stamp is from the Craft the Year Away CD and the Easel card template is from Twelve Crafters Crafting CD. I decided to see how many papers, digital stamps and templates from different craft CDs I could use and still have it all work together.
The sentiment was created in one of the Papercraft Factory CD workspaces. I used the Courier New font at size 18 in black. Then I just centered the words using the workspace before printing it out on white card.
Infact everything this card was printed out on is white card. White card and paper will always give you the best results with digital craft items you are printing either from a craft CD or from a craft download.
I also used just a few other bits of stash from my craft collection on this card.
I used the pre coloured digital image of the umbrella but I decided that it needed a little extra so I just doodled around the edge of it with a white Sakura Glaze pen. As usual I inked around the edges of all the layers with a black ink pad to give them a little lift. Using a silver Sakura pen I dotted each of the rail drops, which hasn't really showed up that well on the photos but they are sparkling nicely here on my desk as I write this! Around the main topper and the sentiment I used a black Sakura glaze pen to draw simple line boxes just to give the card a more modern feel.
I wrapped white button twine around the main part of the easel card over the top of the image and then unwrapped the ends of the knotted twine to give a little bit of a untidy finish to it. To hold the easel part of the card back I used a red heart shaped button which tied the red of the umbrella into the whole card.
Right this is my card, now for you to come up with something to enter our December Get Funky challenge.
As always there is only ONE rule for entries. You need to use at least one Funky Hand product on yourchallenge entry. I make it really easy for you every month by designing a Funky Freebie paper that you can find on my website www.funkyhand.com so even if you don't have any Funky Hand products in your stash yet, you can join in. My Design Team are pretty pleased with this months Freebie download, a few of them have used it in their card examples so hopefully you will like it as well!
Oh, I forgot to tell you what you can win! There is a prize of your choice of any Funky Hand download collection for the winner of the challenge. The winner will be announced on the 15th January here on the Get Funky Blog.
So, I hope you feel inspired to join us this month. Keep calling back every few days as the rest of the Funky Hand Design Team will be sharing their Thank You cards to give you lots more inspiration. If you would like to make sure you don't miss any new posts follow us on Facebook by 'Liking' our page http://www.facebook.com/funkyhand
I would like to say a huge thank you to those of you who took part in my first Get Funky! challenge. I realise this is a busy time for all of us so thanks for sparing me a bit :)
Morning all and welcome to the home straight of this month's Get Funky Challenge. You have until Wedesday night to get your entries in to be in with a chance of winning a Funky Hand download of your choice!
For both my cards this month I have used the Twelve Crafters Crafting cd rom cos I LOVE it and it is just so easy to use, I have to confess most of my cards have been made with it this year.
My Christmas card uses the Christmas Trees template and it gives these cute wee trees which are not only dinky and sweet but saves on the ink at this expensive time of year. All I have added is a wee bit of bling and a charm on some ribbon.
For my non Christmas card I have used the Wintery Magic colour scheme and it screamed "Baby Boy" to me. The plaid paper is my absolute fave and looks fab for a boy. A few pearls and dew drops and another scrap of ribbon and that was that as they say. The wording is all done on the writer part of the workspace which is fab to use as you can get the exact shade of ink for the papers you've used.
I hope you will find some time between the office party and that last minute shopping to join in with us. Please remember our only rule is to have at least one item from Funky Hand on your creation. This month's Funky Freebie is a gorgeous Christmas tree theme so why not snag it and use it?
Hello there! Jenny here! It's time for me to share my funky Christmas and non Christmas projects. As you know, the challenge this month has been to make a Christmas project using traditional colours AND a separate project which is not Christmas themed but uses Christmas papers! Here's my Christmas projects (I made two simple cards so I thought I'd show you both).
Everything you see comes from the Twelve Crafters Crafting CD except the little heart bubble stickers which I had in my stash! I've used the pre-coloured wreath digi stamp and added some Glossy Accents & glitter & some doodling with white pen. The sentiments paper comes from the 'All I Want' collection on the CD. On the 2nd card I've printed off the presents digi stamp in it's smallest form, coloured it with Promarkers and rearranged it to make a tree shape. The tiny star comes from the 'All I Want' collection's star paper & I've added some heart stickers & doodling.
My non Christmas project uses some of the same Christmas elements from Twelve Crafters Crafting as I've used above just in a non Christmas way!
I've used the star paper again, as well as some of the fantastic plain black paper from the same collection (All I Want) which looks like it's much more expensive textured paper! The present comes from the same digi stamp that I used on the tree card just printed out A LOT larger! I've coloured it with Promarkers & added a star & heart sticker on top.
I do hope you've enjoyed his month's challenge and that you've had fun looking at your Christmas papers in a different way! There have been some fabulous entries so far and if you've not yet joined in you can find all the details here....you still have a few days left to enter - closing date is 14th! Also, don't forget to get your hands on the Funky Freebie before then too!
Amanda will be here on the 13th with some more Christmas and non Christmas makes so make sure you check back in here then!
I know what you're thinking, 'Haven't we already seen cards from Anice for this challenge?' Well, you would be right. Unfortunately we have had a few changes in the Design Team this month and it's meant that there was a bit of a gap in the dates for posts so, as the Funky Hand leader I thought it would only be right to fill in.
Jackie has set us a real little teaser this month making not one but two cards for the challenge. The first needs to be a traditional Christmas card using red, green and gold etc and then, this is the real crafty teaser to make a non Christmas card with Christmas papers. All the Design Team creations have been made using the latest Funky Hand craft CD release Twelve Crafters Crafting. We thought it would be a good way to show that Twelve Crafters Crafting wasn't just for Christmas cards but can be used all year around for lots of different projects!
Here is my first card, the traditional coloured Christmas card....
This cards was created using a paper from the Vintage Christmas Collection from Twelve Crafters Crafting and the topper was made using a coloured digital image and sentiment from the same CD. I layered the presents topper onto some gold coloured paper and then folded back one corner. I then used a metal snowflake that I found in a set in my stash..I'm really sorry I don't know where I got them from, I've had them for years. The snowflake is attached with a tiny brad in the center. Here's a close up..
My second card sort of created itself. You know sometimes you have an idea and as you make the card it sort of takes on a life of it's own and ends up being nothing like you first planned? No? Maybe it's just me then!!
I wanted to make a card that was for something completely different to a Christmas card so I decided on a congratulations card. The 'You Passed' topper/sentiment could be for passing an exam or even a driving test. I used the Twelve Crafters Crafting CD again but the Angel on the Tree collection this time.
As I mentioned before this card sort of grew of it's own accord! In the workspace on the CD I resized the spotty paper and I was going to just reduce the lined/block paper and physically layer it over the top. Instead I layered them over the top of each other in the work space. When I printed off the paper I cut them apart using a scalpel so the spotty paper then became a frame. I laid the frame directly onto the white card base after giving it a good grunge up with my trusty dried up black ink pad! Next I laid the paper with the lines/blocks on the card. I decided to set it at an angle so you could see the white card base showing below. The colours in the Angel on the Tree collection are very subtle so I decided that I would add some random doodling using a black Sakura Gelly glaze pen on both papers to make the colours stand out and to match the sentiment topper 'You Passed' that I had printed in black. I used the Impact Label font in the writer on the CD in the workspace to create it, which I then just mounted in the centre of the card. Here's a close up of the doodling and how the two papers are layered to show the white base card below...
Right, that is my second go at this challenge finished. You have until the 14th of December to enter into this months challenge to have the chance to win a Funky Hand download of your choice and there will be more inspiration coming up here before that date.

For my Christmas card I used papers from the Funky Christmas paper collection and the pudding digi tal image and the writer in the Papercraft Factory workspace for the words. I hope you all got yourself some fabulous funky bargains in the birthday sale yesterday!!
Its me, Lou, with my christmassy 'v' non- christmassy makes for our lovely Jackie's Challenge- to make a traditional christmas something and a non- christmas something!!
The funkettes have all been using the latest Funky Hand craft CDTwelve Crafters Crafting for both cards.
For my first make I used the awesome Funky Freebie Anice made, co-ordinating with the vintage christmas colour way on the cd, I absolutely love it! those little trees are way too cute!! I teamed them up with a little gingerbread man and some hearts using some funky scraps from my stash of scraps and a little poem I found on google written in the workspace on 12 cc.
Then it was onto my nono- christmassy make!! I just had to use the pillowbox template from the workspace too, It is fabulous. You can resize it if you want but I just have to tell you that the size it goes on to fit an A4 piece of paper is fabulous, I made my mum one the other day for her friends new baby and we fitted a cute little onesie in it!!
I used Angel on the Tree colourway for this one, the parcels are one of the digi's from the workspace and the text is done in the writer part of the workspace and it my very favourite text on there! it makes the coolest ever labels!!!
Now for the important bit......please includeat least one Funky Hand paper, digital stamp, stamp image whatever you have from Funky Hand, on your cardto be in with a chance to win the prize of a Funky Hand Download collection of your choice.
If you don't own any Funky Hand products yet don't worry as Anice always include aFunky Freebiepaper on the website www.funkyhand.comeach month especially so you can join in.
Hugs Lou xxx
And here's the linky doodle for you to add your fabby makes!!!
Hello Get Funky! followers, Anice here this time. Our lovely Jackie set us quite a little crafty tester this month making a traditional Christmas card (well as traditional as Funky Hand gets anyway!) and then using Christmas papers to make a completely different sort of card.
All the Design Team are using the latest Funky Hand craft CD Twelve Crafters Crafting for both cards so without going on any further I'll let you see what I came up for this months challenge. First here's my Christmas card..
It's an easel card using the template you will find on the Twelve Crafters Crafting CD ROM The papers are all from the Merry Christmas collection from the CD. You'll also find the Christmas Tree digital stamp and sentiment. They have both been coloured using Promarker pens. I blinged it up a bit with some green sequins around the top to get a bit more sparkle on the card.
The second card is completely different..
This was also made with papers from the Christmas CD Twelve Crafters Crafting, the collection I used is O' Christmas Tree.
I used two different papers from the collection and the 'It's a Boy!' topper was created in the workspace of the CD using the characters drop down section, in matching colours to the papers. It's very easy to use the letters in the workspace, re size them to the size you want and then overlay them slightly so that they all become one word..obviously this is three words but it makes it easier to cut it out to make your own personalised topper. I just added some very simple doodling onto the papers and letters with a black Sakura pen and added some blue foam hands and feet that I found at the bottom of one of my stash boxes!
There, I think that proves that Twelve Crafters Crafting can be used for other crafting as well as your Christmas cards
Making this card is good practice for me as we have two little boys about to be born into our family. So I'll be making baby cards very soon to send out! I wont use this as both Mommys will probably have seen this one here and that would be a bit naughty!!
So, there you go that's my cards for this months challenge. I hope they have inspired you a little to get involved with the challenge this month. The ONLY RULE we have here on the Get Funky Challenge blog is one that alot of our entrants seem to over look..please include at least one Funky Hand paper, digital stamp, stamp image whatever you have from Funky Hand, on your card to be in with a chance to win the prize of a Funky Hand Download collection of your choice. If you don't own any Funky Hand products yet don't worry, I always include a Funky Freebie paper on my website www.funkyhand.com each month especially so you can join in.
So, lets see what you create, we are really looking forward to visiting your blogs!
Anice xx
Good morning. Deb's here to share my DT projects with you for this month's challenge - picked by the very lovely Jackie.
And it's a double whammy this time:
Here's what Jackie would like to see:
1,
A Christmas project using "Traditional colours" meaning red, green,
gold, silver etc not the lilacs or blues etc which are around at the mo 2, A non Christmas card or project using Christmas papers please.
Here's what I did:
For my tag I used:
Design Papers from Twelve Crafters Crafting Papercrafting Cd-Rom ' Dear Santa' Collection
Tag template
Santa Digi image - pre-coloured
Holly & Berries Digi image - coloured with PM's
Here's my second project:
And here's what I used for this one:
Design Papers - Dear Santa Collection - Twelve Crafters Crafting Papercraft CD
Star Digi image - coloured with PM's and lashings of Glamour Dust
Sentiment - Writer on Papercraft CD using Impact Label and Kontrapunkt Fonts
Spellbinders - Edgeabilities - Classic Scallop
I hope my projects show how versatile the new Twelve Crafters Crafting CD really is - and that it's not just for Christmas :o)
DON'T FORGET
You MUST include at least one Funky Hand Product on your project to be in with a chance to win the prize of a Funky Hand Download collection of your choice.
If you don't own any Funky Hand products yet don't worry, each month there's a new Funky Freebie paper which can be found here: www.funkyhand.com so you can join in.
Anice will be back on the 23 November with 2
more fabulous projects for your inspiration.
Hello Funky Followers!
Kathy here today with my projects for Jackie's 2 part challenge:
Here's what Jackie said on the Funky Fifteenth of November
So my challenge for this month is a cheeky double whammy. I would like you to make
1, A Christmas project using "Traditional colours" meaning red, green, gold, silver etc not the lilacs or blues etc which are around at the mo 2, A non Christmas card or project using Christmas papers please.
What a great way to show just how brilliantly versatile the Twelve Crafters Crafting collection is. Okay, so maybe most of the fab digi-images won't be much use over the year - but the papers and templates certainly are as only a couple of the designs are totally Christmassy and the colours are fabulous for all sorts of projects - this challenge will prove it as every couple of days we'll be sharing our Christmas and non-Christmas projects with you.
I completely missed my friend's son's birthday - so I've made an "oops" card to send to him.
The sentiment was made using the writer facility in the workspace on the CD.
First I loaded my choice of paper and grabbing the corner made it much smaller.
Then I "wrote" my message and put it on top of the paper design - this way you get sentiment and paper all in one go.
I filled up the remaining space on the workspace with more paper designs before clicking the print button
Here's my card using the Xmas Presents set from Twelve Crafters Crafting - I've used 8 of them on this one!
Materials:
All papers from TWELVE CRAFTERS CRAFTING CD, Sentiment created on the workspace
Black Stickles, Glossy Accents, Imaginisce hot fix turquoise gems
Tools:
large and small star punches
I tend to keep my Christmas cards fairly simple, so that I can churn them out in batches, but allow myself some room to change the design from card to card so that I don't get too bored. I also love to use my growing collection of dies as they make creating lots of little bits to put on the cards a breeze. So I thought I'd share some photos of what I'm making this year.
I've used the Vintage Christmas set for these cards
I work in stages;
Stage 1 is to cut strips of a few papers and stick them onto scraps of Bazzill. card - you can get a lot of trees. baubles etc from just a 5x10cm strip
Stage 2 is to die-cut a batch of shapes from each of the card strips
Stage 3 is to edge the shapes with an ink pad or Krylon pen
Stage 4 is to assemble them onto your cards and add some glitter, gems etc to highlight
As well as the Funky Hand papers, on these cards I've usedCuttlebug and Spellbinders dies, Ice Stickles, Regular Stickles, Glamour Dust, Tiny star punch, Gold crochet thread
I hope you're feeling inspired have a go at our double-edged challenge this month. There's just ONE RULE - and you'd be amazed at how many people ignore it!
You MUST include at least one Funky Hand Product - paper, digital image, template etc on your project to be in with a chance to win the prize of a Funky Hand Download collection of your choice.
If you don't own any Funky Hand products yet don't worry, each month there's a new Funky Freebie paper which can be found here: www.funkyhand.com so you can join in.
Thanks for tuning in today, come back soon for the next double instalment of Funky Crafting!
Hi everyone, it's the Funky Fifteenth! again, it doesn't seem two minutes since this time last month!

So my challenge for this month is a cheeky double whammy. I would like you to make
1, A Christmas project using "Traditional colours" meaning red, green, gold, silver etc not the lilacs or blues etc which are around at the mo
2, A non Christmas card or project using Christmas papers please.
I made a gift card wallet using Christmas Cheer
and a birthday card using Xmas presents
The Design Team have all used the fab new addition to the Papercraft Series of cds, Twelve Crafters Crafting. Please make sure that you stick to our very simple rules and as always, the lovely Anice has designed a Funky Freebie paper for those of you who haven't already got any Funky Hand goodiesand that can be found here FREEBIE
