Claws, Meow and Jingle

Morning

It's Debbie here with a card I put together with the recent release of the Kendrick Kat Wordbook. The papers and wordbook pages aren't necessarily for you to create only wordbooks. I like to set myself a challenge when Anice creates a new download for Funkyhand to try something different.

There is nothing wrong with making a wordbook as the possibilities are endless, after all Anice is the queen creator of them. The papers are so fun and quirky in this collection.

For my card I opened the file up in my graphics program and made Kendrick kat do some fun poses!!!!! He is so cool....

I typed a sentiment and started to put my card together. I cut out some of the words from 1 of the papers to add some interest.

If you want to share any of your makes or views with us either below or on our Facebook page we'd love to see them.

Making the most of your digital stamps..

Hi everyone, Anice here for my turn to share some pearls of wisdom from Funky Hand Land!  Well, wisdom might be a bit of an overstatement.. lets get on to the blog post eh?!!

I have heard quite a few times from crafters about buying digital stamps or even regular stamps that once they have used them a couple of times they don't use them again because all their toppers look the same if they do.  I got thinking about this and thought I'd share an idea I had for an image that I drew recently for on my friends birthday card.

Here is the image, it's not a digital stamp yet, maybe I'll release it..what do you think?

So, here is the image coloured for on my friends card. All pretty and pastel and happy.

Here it is on her card..

Then I went about using the same image in a completely different way..

Now, I'm no amazing colourer so this is just to give you an idea but this time I coloured it as if it was night and the street lamp was just lighting up a bit of the street.  Add a different sentiment and the same image can go onto a very different card. Maybe to a friend or family member who is having a tough time.

So, don't think that once you have coloured a new stamp or digital stamp a couple of times it is ready to be put at the back of the drawer or archived on you PC drive.  Take a look at it and try to think of different ways you could colour it and mount it to give it a completely different use.

I hope that this post has got you thinking differently about your images.  Let me know what you think in the comments.  Also let us know what sort of posts you would like to see on the Get Funky Blog it would be great to hear your ideas.

Until next time

Marleen DT - Georgie Love Banner.

Hi guys..

Its my turn to share some inspiration

For this month I have had a play with "Georgie Love Banner" digi stamp and the
"I heart you" digital papers.

This card is very simply. I covered my card blank with a sheet form the "I heart you" papers. Then die cut my house and added on top. I Printed my greeting, also form the "I heart you" collection, as well as my "Georgie love banner" image, whick I coloured with promarkers.
Borh added to my card with a spot of pinflair. Last I added the bow, and voila.. Done..

A very simple card, but I think it came out really well.
And that is all from me for this time.
Thank you for stopping by and for any comments left behind.

New downloads on the block!

Hi everyone Anice here,

Just a quick drop by today to let you see the three new downloads that are new to www.funkyhand.com
First up there are two new Coffee Takeaway digital stamps,

Thanks A Latte is perfect for sending Thank You messages in a fun way. Do you have a friend that needs a thank you?
Just someone is unwell doesn't mean that they wouldn't want a fun message to make them feel better.  This Full Of Beans digital stamp would definitely do that.

A new backing paper collection always starts with an idea but this collection started for one things and ended up completely different!  With the dark colours and slightly grungy look Wash It All Away is perfect for male cards, something we are always lacking!

Here's a card that I made using the Wash It All Away papers, it's not perfect, I'm not happy with the writing on the clip board but I thought I would share it with you anyway.

I'll be back with some really good creations using these new releases from the Funky Hand Design Team in the near future!

OK, that's it from me today, I hope you have enjoyed seeing the new downloads.

Before I go, did you know that we have a new Facebook group called Funky Hand Crafting?  Come over and join in. It is a new group so there aren't many groupies yet.  We have a competition on that once we have 100 members I will give away a complete set of Papercraft Factory CDs to one member.  Join in, share your Funky Hand stuff, chat with me and the DT.  We would love to meet you over there.

Love and stuff,
Anice xx

Fancy a bit of sepia paper to craft with? Look no further!

Hello everyone, Anice here,

I hope you all had a great Easter break and were not too busy with eating chocolate eggs to grab a bit of crafting time.  I mean it is something you can do at the same time if you are careful!  It was busy for me, we decided that the hall stairs and landings in our three storey house needed painting and Easter would be a good time to do it.. what a hard job.  It's never getting done again as far as I'm concerned!

Right, the reason I wanted to talk to you today was because I have a new backing paper collection on the Funky Hand website ready to be downloaded.  This one is a little different than normal..it's not bright colours, it's sepia! Take a look..

Memories in Sepia is priced at only £2.99 and it has proved very popular with the Funky Hand Design Team, they have created some fantastic cards and scrapbook pages.  Here's a few to get you started,

And here is one from me..don't faint I do craft sometimes!

If you are wondering who the little girl on my card is that's Georgie 'Love Banner' she's a new digital stamp and you can find her on the Funky Hand website today as well.

So, there are a few creations with the new Memories In Sepia backing paper collection.  Go to the Funky Hand website and see LOTS more examples from my wonderful DT in the gallery, then pop it in your basket and get crafting.

We would all love to see what you make using Memories In Sepia so why not visit the Funky Hand Facebook page and put a photo of your creations there so we can all take a look and send you some love.

See you over there.

A Stylish Christmas Coffee

Hello hello! Tabbatha here today! I’m continuing on with the fabulous Christmas cards that the ladies have been showing on the blog. 9 days left until Christmas Eve (Julafton)! I can’t believe 2013 is over, I swear it just began. :)

For my card today I wanted to show off the fabulous I Love You More Than Coffee digital stamp that Anice has made for us. It will be available under the Digital Stamps section of the Funky Hand site – and trust me you’ll want to grab it! Although the digi stamp is all about coffee, complete with a great sentiment, I chose to mask the sentiment and create a Christmas Themed 3D Paper Pieced Takeaway Coffee Shaped Card! Yup, I combined three techniques into this card.
20131215_mug

Ok, so what are we doing today?

Well, glad you asked! Today I’ll be going over how you can create your own shaped card using a fab digital stamp using just a graphics editor like Adobe Photoshop. This technique works for pretty much any graphics editor or vector editor like Adobe Illustrator, GIMP (which is free!) as well as the super simple Trace, Print & Cut in Silhouette Studio.

To get this card created, I first sized and paper pieced the I Love You More Than Coffee digital stamp using the Stylish Tree downloadable backing papers. Since I was 3D paper piecing this piece, I paper pieced three different copies of the cup, making sure to mask the sentiment, and then fussy cut and glued together the dimensional pieces. To finish the top off, I printed and cut different Christmas themed cutting files I had from the Silhouette Store. You can easily stamp your own Christmas sentiment or image right there on the label though – that is the beauty of masking and digital images!

So…on to that nifty little cardbase thing.

Here is the how the card looks opened up (you’ll notice a color difference, that is because silly Tabbatha here forgot to get inside pics of this Christmas card, but instead I’m using the previous card I made). :)

20131207_takeaway_open
The idea is to trace the digital image, duplicate and flip it, combine and then stroke. This leaves a great outline that can be easily printed out on cardstock and cut with scissors!

Step 1. To get started, Open a copy of the I Love You More Than Coffee 1 PNG file, this is the one that has a white image on a transparent background. Size the image to a width of 8.49 cm, making sure the Maintain Aspect Ratio (the chain) is ON.
FH_takeaway_1

Step 2. Using the Magic Tool (left hand toolbar) select the transparent area outside of the image. You will know you have a selection when you see dancing ants around the border.
FH_takeaway_2

Step 3. Once you have the selection go up to Select > Inverse, this will select the cup itself (make sure there are dancing ants ONLY around the cup). Create a New Layer and fill the layer with black.
FH_takeaway_3

Step 4. This is where we make the card base. Duplicate (Copy/Paste) the solid black image and move it so that it sits slightly overlapped to the left of the first black image. This might be easier by first making a New File (A4 size) and copying the black cup into it. Make sure the duplicate is selected in your layers menu then go to Edit > Transform > Flip Horizontal. (Just imagine my cup outlines are actually completely filled in with black!)
FH_takeaway_4

Step 5. Now we need to merge the two black images. Again, making sure that the cups are overlapped as much as you dare (I left a slight opening on the top, but you can close it up). Select the two black cup layers and Right Click > Merge Layers.
FH_takeaway_5

Because the two images were filled in with the same color, this “Merge Layers” acts as a Union (which is the control in Silhouette Studio & Adobe Illustrator).

Step 6.  Now, we don’t want to print out a solid black cardbase, so select the layer and click the little fx button (Add a Layer Style). First apply a white Overlay, then a Stroke in black (I have a stroke of 3 in the screenshot, however I would go thinner when printing so maybe a 1 or 2 and possibly in a different color depending on the cardstock).

Additionally, you want the cardbase to be slightly larger than the digi image itself. I resized the cardbase by simply overlying (in Layers) the digi and Ctrl+T (Edit > Free Transform Path).
FH_takeaway_6

This is the finished product, placed on an A4. Once the image is printed, cut around the solid black lines, using an exacto knife for the inner opening. Fold along the dotted line.

The Finished Product

Here is the finished product again! It was such a great project and I LOVE the I Love You More Than Coffee digital stamp – so versatile!

Some Funky ATC love

Good morning! Tabbatha here today to show you these two super cute ATCs using Anice's wonderful tree houses.

The detail on the houses are just fantastic and they are seriously the perfect size for some fun little ATCs.

I used Where the Fairies Live Number 3 and Number 2. These were such a joy to color up, I can easily imagine a little fairy sitting on the swing below Number 3. :)

And I so can see a little old fairy and his wife sitting all cozy in Number 2! The husband is smoking his pipe by the roaring fire, while the good ol' wifey is knitting some mis-matched socks. :D

I wanted to give a friendly reminder that not only does Funky Hand have some super digital papers that you can do all sorts of crafty things with (like Jackie's recycle post from yesterday!!), but Anice has some fantastic images to add to your  repertoire.

Well, that's all for me today! I'll see you all next week.  Cheers!

Welcoming Tabbatha to our team :)

Hiyah everyone!!

We have some exciting news to share with you here at Funky Hand!! we have a gorgeous new teamie who joined us last week but we have been keeping her to ourselves!! he he he!!!!

We are always on the look out for new Funkettes and Tabbatha's blog shouted at us!!!

Here's a few words from Tabbatha so I don't do all the talking!!!...

Hello everyone! I'm Tabbatha from The Zadis Project and am super excited to be apart of this wonderfully creative team. I'm a HUGE fan of all things hybrid, I use lots of hybrid design papers in my creations. Who doesn't love the lack of space that is taken up by digital papers? :D Earlier in the year I had a chance to use some of Anice's wonderful papers, which I had a lot of fun with so this is really a fantastic fit.

I hope to bring something a little different to the show as well, although with that being said isn't that exactly what each one of us tries to do as well? :D I'm excited and I hope you will be pleased with everything I put forth. Thanks!!

Oh, here is a little something, something that I whipped up.

I created this baby using the I love Sew papers and the awesome A Hug in a Mug digital stamp. You know that whole trend using chevrons for everything? Yeah...I'm totally on that train and Anice doesn't disappoint. I used two different chevron papers from the I Love Sew for the background and the mug itself. The horizontal strips are seriously just a piece of the I Love Sew papers. It has this really cool faux stitching and the stripes were just perfect to compliment the chevrons.

To add dimension, I 3D paper pieced the  A Hug in a Mug digital stamp.  I tell you what, these mugs are PERFECT for 3D paper piecing.

Thanks again for having me. - Love Tabbatha!

So please join us in welcoming Funkette Tabbatha to our team!!!
