Star album

It's me again, Jackie, I can't believe that it is a whole month since I was here last. I hope you are all ok and crafting furiously :) I've got a star album to show you, it's one I made to order last week using left over papers from previous projects and still the paper mountain isn't going down!

Materials used are:
6 6 x 6" blank cards (you can also use sheets of A4 card and cut it to your own sizes but I like the 6 x 6" size. Don't forget though if you cut your own cards, each layer should be approx. 1/2" (1 cm) smaller than the previous card.)
6 5.5 x 5.5" blank cards
6 5 x 5" blank cards
2 pieces of thick card for the covers
1 metre of ribbon for the closure
an assortment of papers, photos and verses or pieces of your own journalling

I've got a few more photos of the book which I will add to my blog later. Please don't forget to show us your work if you are inspired by my little book. Leave us a link and we will come over and leave you a comment.

Thanks for dropping by and I will be back next month :) x

Anything Goes...

I hope you have had a fabulous weekend so far and have had the same lovely hot sunshine where you are as we have had here:)

It's my turn (Jackie) to show you my challenge card today for Lou's chosen challenge of "Anything Goes". Lou set the challenge off with a stunning wordbook on 15th August and as the challenge doesn't close until 14th September there are still a few days to play along with us. We do have one stipulation when entering our challenge and that is that you must use a Funky Hand product. If you don't have any of Anice's fabulous papers (you don't know what you're missing ;)) then every month she comes up with a Funky Freebie for you.

All the papers on my card are from the new download, including the flowers, which can be found on www.funkyhand.com, the collection is called Daisy Day. My only additions were the ribbon which I pleated across the bottom of the green panel and I added gems to the middle of the small punched flowers.
Daisy Day is available from the Funky Hand web site at the miniscule price of £3.49!!!

Don't forget to add your name to Mr Linky so we can drop by your blog and take a look at your work and please don't forget that you MUST use something by Funky Hand. If you don't then you won't be entered into the draw for a free Funky Hand download of your choice and we won't leave a comment on your blog.

Thanks for calling by x

Just a number

Hi everyone, it's my turn (Jackie) to host the Get Funky! challenge this month. Firstly though I would like to thank Anice for her fabulous sketch and also to my team mates for their wonderful projects made for the challenge. I'd also like to thank the lovely ladies who took part this month, and here endeth my Oscar speech :)

My challenge for you this month, as the title says, is that I would like you to use a large number on your project. I don't want to see images of any kind please but text is fine and here is my sample
I've used a variety of Funky Hand products on my card as they all come from my 'off cuts' folder. If you like what you see, the details are on my blog

We only have one rule when it comes to our challenge, which we are very strict about, is that you must use a Funky Hand product on your project. Should you not have any of Anice's fabulous cd's or downloads then she has created a Funky Freebie backing paper for you and this can be found on her website www.funkyhand.com

We look forward to having you join us in our challenge this month and can't wait to see what you come up with. Don't forget to add yourself to Mr Linky below so we can come and take a look.

Twelve Crafters Crafting....

,,and a partridge in a pear tree :)
Hi everyone, it's the Funky Fifteenth! again, it doesn't seem two minutes since this time last month!

Please be gentle with me as this is my very first challenge for Funky Hand. I would like to begin by thanking everyone who took part in last month's challenge and also those of you who made our very first blog hop a great success.
So my challenge for this month is a cheeky double whammy. I would like you to make

1, A Christmas project using "Traditional colours" meaning red, green, gold, silver etc not the lilacs or blues etc which are around at the mo

2, A non Christmas card or project using Christmas papers please.

I made a gift card wallet using Christmas Cheer

and a birthday card using Xmas presents
The Design Team have all used the fab new addition to the Papercraft Series of cds, Twelve Crafters Crafting. If you don't already own it, ask Santa for it in preparation for next year's Christmas projects, you won't be disappointed!
Please make sure that you stick to our very simple rules and as always, the lovely Anice has designed a Funky Freebie paper for those of you who haven't already got any Funky Hand goodies and that can be found here FREEBIE

Don't forget to pop back regularly to see what my very talented teamies have been up to.

Thank you all and good luck.
Jackie xx

Announcing the brand new Funky Challenge for August 15th

Hi there Funky Friends!

Paula here to tell you that it's my complete pleasure to take up my turn in being your hostess this month and to welcome funky friends old and new to the brand new challenge that will run from today (Funky 15th August) to 14th September.

I joined this fabulous design team in February and absoloutely love being a Funkette - and have the best design 'teamies' in blogland. So, as all is fair in love and war, it has become my turn to choose this month's challenge - so I thought I'd go with a theme that is dear to most of us (young and old):

 AT THE SEASIDE

sneak peek
I don't know about you, but when I think of the seaside, it conjours up all sorts of smells, sights, sounds - AND colours. So this is what I'm looking to see from you this month: Colours that remind YOU of the seaside...

Those colours, I'm sure, will be different from one person to the next. Some will think of the sand, some of the sky (or both), for some it might be the colours of some of the yummy ice-cream flavours available, fluffy candyfloss, stripy rock, the bright colours of the fair rides, fishing boats, buckets and spades, old fashioned deck chairs, wind-breakers, Punch and Judy show... I could go on as this is not an exhaustive list of ideas. The colours we use can be quite different depending on our experiences, which seaside resort you go to - or went to as a child and whether that was in good ol' blighty or abroad (ooh - the colours of the caribbean just came to me!)  Or what about a Spanish holiday or other holidays in far flung places... (i'm day dreaming now)....

Right, before I show you my card - if it's OK, I just have a little reminder and a small request if I may (please)...

The 'Get Funky' design team, quite naturally of course, want to see loads of stunning entries each month - and believe us - we DO see some incredible entries month in month out (thank you all). However, unfortunately, we still receive entries that haven't taken into account our one teeny weeny request - and that is to include at least ONE Funky Hand product in your project - which is such a shame because we even provide a free download each and every month. This means that we aren't able to take into account those projects that don't comply at the end of the month when we are at the point of considering the winner(s) - and after all that hard work you've done too - how miserable and disappointed would that make you feel? :o(

So if you are reading this and are raring to join in this month and still don't have one of Funky Hand's many CD's - just use this months freebie as your one element for now (then you can go and buy a CD or instant download afterwards), and work round it using other products you already have in your stash - just as long as there is at least this one FH element. Phew. Sorry if I sound like a broken record!!!

Anyway Funky friends, I hope you didn't mind me pointing that out - we're not finger wagging people here at Funky Hand cos crafting is all about fun - It's just that that one ickle point needed to be made for when you make a card or project for the challenge!!!

Right, without further ado, here is what I enjoyed putting together for this months challenge using colours that remind me of the seaside - and that is (a bit obvious mind), the sun, sea and sand. I've also used digi's from the Papercraft Factory CD's Colour Me Happy, Dreams Come True and Craft the Year Away.   All three of these CD's have some quirky, but very useful digi stamps on them - I mean, where else have you seen a bucket and spade or a smiling sunshine as well as an icecream cone (and a football boot - see my last DT challenge card) together... N.B. these are not necessarily off the very same CD - but are from the same Papercraft Factory collection of CD's. Nonetheless, these little digistamps are all available and have some fabby uses - some which you haven't thought about yet!!

ta daaa:

I've used glossy accents on the bucket and spade, although it hasn't showed up in this pic.  The bucket and spade - if you notice, are printed over the DP's - but have you noticed how the spotty one is proportional to the bucket?  Thats because in the workspace area of the CD, I have shrunk down the DP as far as I could behind the bucket - then all I had to do was cut it out.  If i'd have left the DP at the normal size - there would have been about one or two spots behind it!!!  Amazing what you can do with that Papercraft Factory programme!  I did two more buckets and spades like this - one of the other sets can be seen on a further card on my own blog post that co-incides with this post.

All the papers used on this particular card have been made using the same three Papercraft Factory CD's too - but as a massive fan of Funky Hand before I was on the DT - which was a 'dream come true' for a fan to be offered a position on the DT (pardon the pun and reference to one said CD!), I was (and still am) the very proud owner of all the other CD's that Anice had brought out including the very first one she took to C&C 'The Funky One' (the other ones I bought from her website or had them on pre-order chomping at the bit until they were released!!!

Before you miss out on some of her original (and equally fabby) work, you may be pleased to know that a limited amount of the original CD's are still available for sale on the website - so please hurry and grab yourself a bargain, because once they've gone, they've gone. Unfortunately, there will be no more production runs of them once they are sold, making room for new and exciting future CD's. (n.b. as a fan, I always found that they're all a great resource for masculine backing papers too).

I felt the need to add the ice-cream in there and of course the sun in the beautiful blue sky because of course it's ALWAYS like this when one goes away (she says with fingers crossed - tee hee!!!).

bits and juice anyone!!

I've paper pieced the ice-cream balls/lumps/blobs scoops, then used glossy accents all over them (which are available HERE on the website)...

The eagle eye'd amongst you may have noticed this:

well, I just had to start singing while I was making this card - so of course - It would have been rude not to have added those words in for a bit of fun (I defy you not to sing it... go on, you know you're going to... see I said you would! tee hee) lol.   Awwww, now I want to be beside the seaside instead of sat here in my conservatory - {{shouts "get the camping gear ready dear, we're off"!!!}} Sad to say, it doesn't quite work like that - boo!

By the time i'd finished my challenge card, I was on such a roll so I couldn't stop there - oh no, I made a further two cards on the 'seaside' theme - but i'll put them on my own blog rather than take up too much of your time up here (what do you mean I already have????) I reckon by now you're ready for the off, searching for your FH CD's in order to join in ((waving)).

However - if (sadly), you don't own a Funky Hand CD, Anice has kindly designed the freebie below just so that you can download it and join in with the funky fun... or go HERE if you want to become the proud owner of a CD which is like a library of funky, colourful designs at your fingertips.

Just about every other day from now, one of my fellow Funkettes will post their inspirational take on the challenge - so please remember to come back and see look at what they've done- just to get your creative juices flowing...

Right, that's (almost) enough chat from me - but just to recap.

PLEASE:

a) use at least one FUNKY HAND product (it would help if you would just mention what it is - to help us and other readers of your blog too)

b) link your challenge entry post (not your whole blog) to Mr blue frog (inlinkz) at the foot of EACH post throughout the month

c) make sure that your challenge entry (recognisably) meets with the challenge theme

d) ensure that your entry is posted BEFORE midnight on 14th of the month (in this case 14th September)

e) don't backlink to a card you've posted before and only one entry per person please

and finally

e) have funky fun, fun, fun creating your challenge entry

Please remember to link your funky entry to the blue frog (bottom of post)

Thanks for reading and good luck in the challenge - i'll be round to comment on all entries that meet with the rule of the challenge.

Get Funky- Spots and Stripes

Good Morning

It's my turn, Allison, to show you my card for Debs challenge of

SPOTS & STRIPES

Remember you can pop over to the Funky Hand store for all your spots and stripes papers and also for the Funky Freebie download that could be used for this challenge but please remember that you MUST USE AT LEAST ONE FUNKY HAND product on your project to be eligible

I used papers from the Rainbow of Spots download and the Stripey Stripes download for my card.

Very simple card from me this month, made using a big die to create the card blank, a bit of pleated stripey paper and a flower and the spotty paper cut out using the smaller die in the set.

You still have time to join in the fun- until the 14th of May , so if you haven't already then get creating with lots of spots and stripes

Pinch and a punch....

..for the first of the month :)
A huge thank you to Debs for hosting this month's challenge which goes under the heading of SPOTS & STRIPES and can be seen here and to my super talented team mates for providing such inspiration.

When Debs first announced her challenge, even before Anice uploaded the new striped freebie paper I started rattling off my spotty and stripey creations which are posted on my blog and came up with three before I realised I still needed to make something using the free paper lol

It just so happened that DH forgot his step-niece's birthday until the actual day so this is what I came up with.

The elephant digi stamp is from the Colour Me Happy cd and I've printed him onto the spotty paper from the Rainbow Polkadots download and as well as using the striped freebie, I've used the large spotty paper from the April Fool section of the Craft The Year Away CD. The sentiment was printed using the Workspace on the CTYA cd and glued onto a cocktail stick to make my flag. I finished my card with 3 toning brads, I hope you like it.

If you want to hop over to my blog, I have added the other stripey/spotty makes. I hope you like them and that you are inspired to join in with our Get Funky! challenge which runs until the 14th May.

Please remember that your creation MUST use an element from Funky Hand and if you don't you won't go into the hat for the winning entry.

Take care and thanks for looking.

Spots and Stripes - The Best of British!

Hello everyone, it's Paula here.

I'd just like to start by thanking you for joining me on Funky Hand's challenge blog today and also to wish all our Funky Hand readers a very Happy Easter Monday.

Well, it's my turn to share with you what i've been up to with this months challenge that our Debs kicked off on the Funky Fifteenth of April with her beautiful card. Go here if you want to check it out again.

This months challenge of 'Spots and Stripes' has been one of my favourite to date, especially as Debs quite rightly pointed out that Anice has created a fabulous paper collection of rainbow polka dots recently (oh, and remember that until 10pm on Easter Monday, there is 25% to take off the price of this very collection).

The polka dots collection perfectly matches with the feebie

that Anice has kindly provided for you to use - and which our Ruth used when she made her gorgeous set of matching cards which can be seen in the last post.

I decided to go for something that two of the colours in the new polka dot collection particularly conjoured up for me when i saw them together - and particularly as feels a bit topical this week, with rumour of a special event happening towards the end of it!

I made my card into a Birthday card instead - but all things patriotic and the fabulous polka dot selection definitely inspired me.

I have attached the sentiment (on stripes) to acetate which I made slightly larger than A5 so that I could fasten it around the back of the card. This is because I didn't want to attach it to the actual card because it would have detracted from the corner of the flag - and I thought attaching it to the acetate made it look like it was floating.

Here's a pic of the inside of the card

The white square blank bit is where you would write your message.

Here is the back of the card:

I added a strip of the red stripe (from another card i'd done) to hide where i'd attached the acetate just to finish it off at the back.

I thought making a Union Jack would be much easier than it was - but then realised that making a rectangular shaped flag go onto a 6x6 square card was never gonna happen!!! Therefore, my card is actually now A5 in size. I had to mock on up by doing a template in Microsoft Publisher - so that I could cut each component of it up in order to make individual templates for all the dotty bits of paper.

While I was working on this project, my son's friend said "are you copying the picture on your kitchen mat Paula?"...(erm, no) - then the penny dropped... that's where i'd seen it before! I have a glass kitchen cutting mat that has a retro Union Jack on - the cross is a polka dot pattern - and believe it or not, I hadn't realised until Andy had said (doh)! I only 'see' it every day! Amazing what you look at without actually 'seeing' it or noticing it huh?

Anyway - with the Royal Wedding taking end at the end of this week, and having just had St. George's day - I'm feeling suitably patriotic.

If you feel inspired by this or any other card that your fabulous DT has brought to you this month - upload an image of your card by clicking on the blue frog at the end of this post.

Good luck if you do, but remember to make sure your creation has at LEAST ONE FUNKY HAND PRODUCT in it to qualify - if you ever think you have uploaded by mistake - just let the team know. Also - as a help to the design team when coming to view your blog, please could you mention which Funky Hand product you've included in your creation - and which CD or downloadable it was from - or just mention that you used the freebie.

Watch this space for more fabulous DT creations which will be posted right up until the new challenge is brought to you on the Funky Fifteenth - of May!!!!

GET FUNKY! - SHOW US YOUR HEART!!

Hi Everyone

I hope that you enjoyed the first month of our "new look" Get Funky! Challenge.

I know all the Funkettes really enjoyed making and posting their inspirational projects and it was lovely to see so many of you sharing your creations with us.

Hopefully you get chance to play along this month -
we love visiting your lovely blogs to see what you do with Anice's Funky Goodies.

Were you our lucky winner or were you chosen to receive one of our coveted blinkies???
You will need to check Allison's post below to find out.

-oOo-

This Funky Fifteenth it is my turn (Jules) to set the challenge and I am very predictably asking you to

"Show Us Your Heart"

Now that Valentine's Day has been and gone and we are all "loved up"
I thought it would be nice to continue the love and include a heart somewhere on your creation
....  we can't wait to see what you create.

Of course you do not have to make a card .. .. you can make anything you like .. .. a tag, ATC, scrapbook page, wordbook .. .. perhaps a 3D project

 BUT REMEMBER .. ..
somewhere on your creation there needs to be a heart .. ..
AND .. .. a Funky Hand paper or extra.

For anyone who doesn't have any Funky Hand products at the moment Anice has very kindly produced another freebie paper that is available from the Funky Hand website,
look for the freebie in the downloads section.

To kick things off here is my creation:

I have used the "February Love" section of the new "Craft The Year Away" CD .. .. .. which the free paper this week matches perfectly.  I have just used a small strip of the free paper - the strip with all the hearts.  It reminds me of strawberry cream chocolates mmmm.....

The anniversary sentiment is from Our Betty "Love N That" clear stamp set.

I love adding flowers to my creations and find that simply rubbing around the petals with an old ink pad brings a bit of extra life to the flower heads.  It isn't such a good look if your ink pad is too new or juicy as the ink is often too strong .. .. but a good old "well used and well loved" one is just pefect.

This time round you are in for a mega treat .. .. because our Funkette numbers have increased
recently so you can expect even more inspirational up-dates.  Woo hoo!!!

Next up will be my lovely teamie Loopylou - who will be here on the 17th showing us her heart.

So what are you waiting for .. .. ..Get Funky! and show us "your" heart
and who knows .. .. .. you could be the winner of the free download !!!

Have fun!!!

Love Jules xx

Get Funky- Funky 15th- Going Round In Circles

Welcome to another Get Funky challenge, the first one of the year and as you can see it has now moved to the Funky Fifteenth of the month.
It's my turn Allison to set the challenge and the challenge I have picked is

Going Round In Circles

so I want to see all sorts of circles on your projects whether it's on the paper, card shape and so on
The main rule that you must use at least one Funky Hand product remains the same and to help you take part this month there is a freebie which Anice is so kindly giving away for this month to help you with this challenge
Your freebie can be downloaded from the Funky Hand website, look for the freebie in the downloads section.

The other change to the challenge set up is that you will have to come back here every third day this month when a different DT member will be showcasing their project, so remember to follow this blog so you know when a new project has been uploaded- there will also be instructions and some tutorials on how the projects have been made

This way you won't forget to enter the challenge, still thinking you have all month and then before you know it the month has disappeared and your entry not completed and you lost the chance to win your choice of download from the shop

The fifteenth of this month is special in another way- it's the launch of OUR BETTY, four new fantastic clear stamp collections from Funky Hand and believe me they are wonderful to work with and you get a clear image all the time because of the deep etching on the acrylic
And to celebrate Betty's launch I have made her go round in circles

For this circular card I used papers from Man's World from the Now That's Funky CD.

I used a CD as a template and traced the circle onto card stock then covered the front with my paper and inked the edges

Scored and folded the circle in half and cut a scalloped circle from a nestie and inked the edges of the circle

Used the circle nestie to cut another circle from the dotty paper and attached to scalloped circle

Stamped and coloured Betty (from the Celebrate collection)with Pro markers and inked the edges again then layered her and some feathers, ribbon, flowers and button on to the card

Hope my card has given you some inspiration but if it hasn't then you must make sure you return on the 18th when Jules will be showcasing a stunner for you!

So go grab your freebie and Get Funky!

you have until 7pm on the 14th February to enter by providing your link below

It’s Dolly here this month to set the challenge. But before we get on to this months theme I’d like to say a big THANK YOU to all who joined in with Ruth's 'Something New' challenge last month – Lots of lovely entries but there can only be one winner, so scroll down for more details.

Happy Birthday Get Funky!!

Would you believe Get Funky is one year old today, and hasn’t the year just flown?
To celebrate our first birthday we’re offering more prizes this month but on to that a little later firstly let’s get on with this month's theme which is ...

Pockets

It could be anything you like – a card, a mini album, a wordbook as long as it has some kind of pocket and you use at least one Funky Hand paper or extra.  Now on to the 3 all important rules.

1. Add your ‘Pocket’ project to your blog,
2. Don't forget to say which Funky Hand product(s) you've used,
3. Come back here before midnight August 31st (UK time) and leave a comment with a link so that we can see what you've made.

The prize as usual for the winner is a £20 voucher to spend on the Funky Hand website plus blinkies for the runners up.

*As an extra something to celebrate our 1st birthday all entries that follow the 3 all important rules will also receive a prize.*

Our DT have made these fantastic ‘Pockets’ to help get you started. Be sure to visit their personal blogs for more photos and info on their projects.

Ruth has used papers from Colour Me Happy to make this fab and funky 'Thank you' pocket. A lovely photo of her 2 boys too.

Kathy has made this elegant heart filled 'Anniversary' pocket using Colour Me Happy

Don’t you just love the colour mix on this 'For You' pocket from Kath, so cute.

A 'Stitched' pocket from Jules, using Colour Me Happy. I love the key and keyring, so clever.

Funky Hand meets Tim Holtz on this pretty ‘Flower’ pocket from Enfys. The flowers were made with TH dies and FH digi stamps from Dreams Come True, genius!

Anice has made a ‘Christmas’ pocket, teasing us with new paper designs from the soon to be released FH Christmas download. Love the candy cane.

A fab ‘New Baby’ pocket from Allison, using that cute little elephant digi stamp and papers from Colour Me Happy.

And I (Dolly) have made a 'Gift Card' pocket, using papers from Colour Me Happy.

Looking forward to see what you all create using pockets. Don’t forget the extra special birthday gift on offer this month all you need to do is follow the 3 simple rules to win a prize.
